November 5, 2024 - Floor 22: Lake Outside Coral City
(Another peaceful day on the Floor. And Y/n is sitting on a dock practicing a new hobby: fishing. As he sullenly pulls out an empty hook, he shows that he's not very good at it. Suddenly, from behind him)
Old Man: Ya catch anything?
(Y/n nearly falls off his stool in surprise)
Old Man: Heh-heh-heh. Sorry, I didn't mean to sneak up on ya like that.
(He makes a long cast with his own fishing pole and sits on another stool)
Old Man: My name's Nishida and I'm a fisherman... in the game, anyway. Back in Japan, I was the head of network security for a company called Toto High-Speed Internet.
Y/n: I'm Altair. Wait,... wasn't Toto the company that...
Nishida: Yup. We were the folks in charge of network security for this game.
(Y/n looks like he's about to ask Nishida something when the man's line starts to tug)
Y/n: It's a big one!
(Nishida starts pulling)
Nishida: Yeah,... but I've caught bigger!
(With one big yank, a large purple fish appears out of the water)
Y/n: Whoa!
(Nishida pulls the fish in and holds it up)
Y/n: Awesome!
(Nishida puts the fish in his Item Storage)
Nishida: Thanks. I'm good at catchin' them. But cookin' them? Yeah, not so good. I'd like to make sashimi or a nice stew out of 'em. But what's the point if I don't have any soy sauce? I could go for fish baked in soy sauce right now. Or, with radishes and soy sauce, yeah.
Y/n: Hey, uh, if you want, I just might be able to help you out with that?
(Nishida gains a pricelessly-freakish look on his face)
Nishida: WAIT, SAY WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?
(Another large fish slips further under from the screaming)
-----Time Skip-----
(Later that day, in Y/n and Asuna's home, the purple fish has been cooked and devoured by the couple and Nishida. They now relax and sip tea)
Nishida: Ah! That was an amazing meal! I had no idea you could get soy sauce in this world.
(Asuna giggles)
Asuna: Actually, I made it myself. If you want, you can take some home with you.
Nishida: Really?! Ma'am, my taste buds bow down before you!
Asuna: Glad you liked it. By the way, how high is your Fishing Skill? I'm asking because Altair hasn't been able to catch anything yet.
(Nishida laughs while Y/n looks a little insulted)
Y/n: Yeah, well, maybe if all the lakes on this Floor weren't so hard...
Nishida: Well-l-l-l-l, actually, that's not true. As far as fishing goes, the only lake that's tough to catch anything in is the big one you were at today.
