WARNING: ANGST

Kai's POV

"Come on. Why won't my power unlock?" I wondered aloud as I reached for the fangblade.

"Kai! Help me!" I turned to see Lloyd. He looked like he could fall into the lava any second.

I looked at the fangblade again.

Lloyd or the fangblade? A brat who has only made my life even more difficult than it already was or a weapon that could lead to people finally seeing me as the hero I was?

I know it seemed wrong to even question if I should save Lloyd or not, but it was either him or risking Pythor getting all four fangblades and releasing the great devourer, causing the deaths of millions, and I wasn't really sure if I wanted that.

"Kai! Help me! Please!" Lloyd yelled again. I stared at him.

One life or millions?

That's when I remembered something sensei Wu had told me a while ago.

"As a ninja you must be strong. Don't let your feelings get in the way. Just because something feels right in the moment doesn't mean that it's the right choice."

I sighed. Sure, saving Lloyd would mean I got to keep my brother, but if I saved the fangblade then I'd be saving millions not just a single child.

He stared at me his eyes filled with shock and confusion.

"Please?" he said again. This time it felt more like a question. I sighed.

"I'm sorry. But I can't risk it."

All of a sudden I was filled with incredible strength and pulled the fangblade out with ease. I then flew out of the volcano, leaving Lloyd in the ashes.

Nya's POV

"Kai! You're alive!" I said as I hugged him. He sighed.

"Yeah, I'm alive. Hooray!" For some reason it sounded sarcastic. I stared at him confused.

"Is something wrong?" That's when I noticed the fangblade in his hand.

"You got the fangblade!" Then I realized something.

"If you had enough time to get the fangblade then.........." It finally made sense. Why he was so upset. He had had to make a choice, and from the looks of it he'd made the wrong choice.

A simple nod was my clarification.

"You left Lloyd for that stupid blade!" I yelled, punching him. Garmadon turned towards Kai his eyes filling with rage.

"YOU LEFT MY SON TO DIE!!! YOU MONSTER!!!" he yelled. He pushed me out of the way and attacked Kai, actually injuring him.

"YOU CALL YOURSELF A HERO, BUT HEROES DON'T LEAVE CHILDREN TO DIE!!!!"

"STOP!" Wu yelled much louder then Garmadon.

"Yes, the loss of Lloyd is quite upsetting. But I'm sure Kai had good reasons for what he did. Right, Kai?"

"Yeah... You could say that...... But I'm not really sure I made the right choice," he said. Garmadon chuckled.

"That's because it wasn't, b-"

"Shh! We have children here," Wu said. Garmadon rolled his eyes.

"I was going to say brat. What did you think I was going to say?" Wu paled.

"Ummm...... That's not important. Kai, go back to explaining your reasoning, please."

"Ummm....... I thought it would be smarter to grab the fangblade cause it would stop Pythor from releasing the great devourer saving millions," he said. Wu smiled.
