Chapter 2: The Royal Family ( Plus Their Friends )

Kai's POV

Skylor walked in. I ran to her.

"Hey, there she is. You're late," I said.

"I was late too if it's any consolation," Zane said.

"Thanks for meeting me here," I said. She smiled.

"Thanks for inviting me. It's been a while since we've all been under one roof." Everyone began chuckling.

"What?" Skylor asked.

"Are we gonna talk about it?" Jay asked. Both me and Skylor stared at them confused.

"Talk about what?"

"You and Kai's relationship. I've been wondering if you've finally decided to make it official," Nya said.

"No, me and Kai are just friends!" Skylor said. I nodded in agreement although I didn't really feel that way. I didn't have time for crushes or any of that stuff.

"Lies," Nya said.

"Not lies!" I said.

"Yes lies!"

"Not lies!"

"Yes lies"

"Not-"

"Leave him alone," Cole said before sighing," Any word from Misako?" I sighed.

"Not since she went searching for master-" I stopped for a second as I noticed a familiar shadow before quickly shaking my head. I was probably just seeing things.

"Wu. I don't know where she is."

"She'll come back, Kai. And so will Wu," Nya said. I sighed. That last part didn't sound as comforting as it should've.

"Not everyone comes back, Nya. But that isn't why I called you here. I called you because of this." I showed a picture of the symbol I'd seen on the parachute for that weird gang that was dressing like us for some reason.

"My f-I mean our sensei? Lord Garmadon?!?!" Skylor asked.

"After poking around I've learned it's the symbol to-"

"The Sons Of Garmadon. A mysterious criminal syndicate growing prominent in Ninjago City."

"I thought it was the SOG." Skylor gave me a look.

"SOG stands for Sons Of Garmadon." It took about a second for me to realize what the name meant.

"As in the son of Garmadon?" I asked nervously.

"Maybe. But isn't he dead?"

"Y-Yeah, but wh-what if he's back? What if he escaped the cursed realm like Morro and now wants revenge? What if he tries to-"

"Kai, I've told you this a million times Lloyd isn't going to somehow come back from the dead and try to kill you!" Nya said. Everyone stared at me. This had never come up before.

"You don't know that! Morro was able to come back! Plus Zane! Plus...... Literally everyone we've met! So so could he!"

"Kai, calm down. Before you accidentally-"

"Start a fire? To late," a girl said. I turned around nervously.

"Sorry about that," I said as Nya quickly put out the fire.

"It's fine. Now you're probably wondering why I'm here." I nodded. "You asked Mr Hutchins to come right?"

"Yeah. Is something wrong with him?"

"No, he just couldn't make it. I'm a friend of his. I'm actually close with the entire royal family."

"The royal family?" Cole asked.
