Morro's POV
"Princess? Princess Harumi? Are you there?" Kai asked as he looked through her room.
I was watching from the shadows. I had been for a while and was honestly getting pretty good at it. My only problem was that turning invisible was tiring, so I couldn't do it for to long which led to me getting caught like during the speech.
"He's got the princess!" Kai exclaimed with a slight fear in his voice. I looked where he was looking and saw someone in a cloak, holding a bag. I also noticed someone in the shadows, watching. Guess I'm not the only one spying on the green ninja.
"Why do I always hurt those I'm supposed to protect?" He asked before adding in a whisper, "Or kill?" I was a bit shocked he was still thinking about that, maybe even more shocked than when I first discovered what had happened to Lloyd. It had been around three years since his death, so he shouldn't be thinking about it this much. Then again I'm pretty sure I'd feel pretty guilty if I was the reason a child never got to experience adult hood.
I sighed as I thought about the people who didn't care about being the reason a child never got a childhood. If only Wu was still here then I could have some vengeance.
Kai began to chase the mystery person on the roof.
"You've got to be kidding me!" He said in irritation as he paused at a large gap between two roofs. He jumped but ended up almost falling. He grabbed onto a ladder in order to not fall. The ladder began to fall, but then the mystery person saved him.
"Who are you?" He said, getting into fighting position. They took of their hood revealing their identity.
"Princess Harumi?!?!" Kai exclaimed shocked.
"Yes?" She asked in a surprisingly kind tone.
"I thought you were kidnapped. I was trying to save you."
"Was that what that was? From my vantage it looked like I was the one saving you."
"Then who's in the bag?"
"You mean what's in the bag? Food. For the less fortunate. Even though I'm confined to the palace I still try to give what I can." I blinked. Confined to the palace? Was she permanently grounded or something?
"But you're bedroom. It was ransacked."
"Yes, I can be quite the slob. Thank you for noticing."
"I'm sorry! I-I didn't mean!"
"The princess has gone! Find her!" Hutchins announced from the palace.
"They can't know I left the palace," Harumi said her tone serious. She handed Kai a jacket. "Here, disguise yourself. Hurry." They ran off, and I began to run after them. Soon I began to tire and turned visible, breathing heavily. Much to my relief they stopped to feed the poor.
"Some thing are easier to do when you're not a princess. If I asked my parents they would never allow it. But these people are hungry, and we have so much food in the palace," Harumi said. Soon children surrounded her, begging her. "Patience, little ones. There's enough for each of you." Soon they gave the whole bag away. She smiled as she turned towards Kai.
"Feeding the poor's actually how I met my best friends," she continued.
"Really? They don't seem-"
"They aren't. Not anymore. I helped them just as I'm helping others now."
"Can I ask you a question? Do you enjoy being a princess?"
"Everyone thinks being a princess is supposed to be easy and wonderful, and I guess it's okay, but a lot of the time it's really hard."
