Chapter 25:Stray Tear

I watched the two walk in with a smirk. Well, this just got interesting.

I suddenly felt a little twitch in my heart. Jordan. What if she's here for Nick?

I shook my head. I shouldn't be worried about it. Nick told me they weren't together anymore anyways. Thinking of Nick suddenly made me want to see him. So, I walked back through the crowd of people looking for my homie. ;)

I found him standing off by himself kind of observing everything around him. I walked towards him with a smile.

Upon seeing me, Nick turns and grins at me. "You look beautiful." he says. I grin widely at him. "Aw, thank you Nick." I try to keep the smile on my face as I ask him my next question.

"Did you know Jordan would be here?"

He looks at me wide eyed. "No, I didn't." I nod. "Oh." was all I could think of to say. There was a awkward moment between us before I remembered something, or someone. Daisy.

I look at Nick. "I'll be right back, I have to make sure I tell Karmem something." Nick nods at me. I turn to leave, but before I do, I turn back and kiss Nick's cheek. "I'll see you in a little bit." I say. After that I walk away to go find Karmen.

Karmen was, of course, with Gatsby when I found her. I smiled at Gatsby then pulled her away to talk.

"Daisy and Jordan are here. And probably Tom too." I tell her. Karmen groans. "So, what do we do?" she asks. I shrug.

"Make sure they don't ruin the fun." Karmen nods. I then leave on my way back to Nick.

I finally see Nick, but I kinda wish I didn't. I saw him kissing Jordan. And guess what? When they broke apart she smirked at me and looked all smug.

Now, I'm not one to cry over things like this. So instead, I laughed, which confused Jordan by the look on her face. When Nick heard me laugh he turned to me and looked upset. I turned away from them both and began to walk away. I could hear Nick calling me from behind, but I just kept going. Suddenly, something grabs my wrist and turns me around.

"Kelsey, she kissed me." Nick says. I simply nod. Nick continues. "I don't want you to be mad or upset with me--" "I'm not." I interrupt him. Clearly, I'm lying. And somehow Nick knows.

He shakes his head. "You're lying. I can see it in your eyes. You're upset." I sigh. "I just......need to be by myself for a little while." I say to him with a small, sad smile.

Nick was about to say something when suddenly Jordan walks up behind him.

"It's okay Nick, you can stay with me." she says while smirking.

I immediately walk away. I didn't want to do anything I would regret.

I begin to laugh again, not knowing what else to do. But, a stray tear slowly makes its way down my face.

I quickly wipe it away.
