Two Girls in West Egg

Chapter 32:Movie Night-Part 2

When Nick and I finally reached the living room, we saw Gatsby and Karmen already sitting in there on the couch.

I walked over and sat next to Karmen, then Nick sat next to me. So, the order it went in from left to right was: Nick, me, Karmen, and Gatsby. There was also snacks set up on the table in front of us. Because snacks are cool. :)

"Yay! You're finally here! I was wondering what happened to you once Nick showed up...." Karmen trailed off while smirking. I look at her and laugh nervously.

"No, nothing happened." I say while slightly bumping Karmen's shoulder. She silently laughed.

Before the movie started, I went to go get blankets from my room. Once I was there, I got the blankets and made my way to the door. But, as I turned, I saw Gatz sitting on my bed. So, I decided to get him too.

I walked back to the living room with the blankets, one for each pair.

I then sat down back in my spot with the blanket over me and Gatz in my lap.

Gatsby notices Gatz and smiles. "I suppose he wanted to see the movie too?" I laugh and nod.

The movie soon starts and one of the maids dims the lights. The butlers and maids weren't watching the movie with us though.

To be honest, I really wasn't watching it. I was mostly just eating and talking to Nick.

I turned to Nick. "Are you watching this?" He slightly laughed.

"No, not really. But I didn't want to say anything." I nodded. "Me too."

I stayed silent for a couple of seconds. "Want to go?" I then ask.

Nick looks at me with amusement and confusion. "Where?"

I shrug with a smile. "I don't know. We're not watching this so, might as well."

Nick chuckles. "Okay."

And with that, Nick and I silently made our way out of the house without Karmen or Gatsby noticing.

We then entwined our hands and began to walk who knows where.

After a while, I noticed we were at what looked like a park.

I looked up at the twinkling lights in the sky. Mesmerized by them, I let go of Nick's hand and layed down in the soft grass to stare up at them.

Nick looked down at me and smiled. He then layed down beside me.

A second of silence comes between us. Nick then speaks.

"I've never met somebody as...." Nick begins. I interject.

"Weird as me." I say while laughing. Nick laughs with me.

"Well, to put it in simple terms, yes. But, weird in a cute way."

I turn my face away from the sky above and look at him. "How can somebody be weird in a cute way?" I say slightly smiling. Nick shrugs.

"You just are." Nick said. He turned to me. "And it's one of the things I love about you."

I had a huge grin on my face. This all felt so cliché. And I loved it.

We layed and shared a few kisses while watching the stars.
