PHOEBE WAS LED INTO the visitation area of the penitentiary, having been told that she had some visitors, which as she expected, were her siblings. As she was led through the door separating the visitors from the prisoners, she spotted Michael sitting with Veronica Donovan, Lincoln's ex girlfriend, at another table, the duo turning to face Phoebe as they watched her walk past the table they sat at. Michael stared at the back of her head as he watched her walk towards the table that had her siblings sitting at it, his heart suddenly aching as a wave of realization came over him.

He should've never asked Phoebe to help him. He should've never brought her into this. It was his fault that she was here, her life basically ruined, dragged away from part of her family. He felt sick to his stomach as a wave of guilt washed over him and Veronica cocked an eyebrow, turning around to see what he was looking at when she noticed Michael's eyes were steadily fixated on something behind her. That's when she noticed he was still staring at Phoebe, Phoebe sitting at the table with her siblings. Veronica turned back around and grinned as she bit the inside of her cheek gently. It was like a lightbulb went off in her head, and she quickly realized what Michael must have been thinking.

"It's not your fault she's in here, you know." Veronica said, taking a guess as to why Michael's eyes had suddenly become glossy and his face had fallen into a look of pure guilt and sadness. Michael snapped his eyes back to look at Veronica but remained silent. Veronica smiled softly. "We both know she would've followed you to the end of the world." Michael nodded and sighed.

"That's exactly why it is my fault. For asking for her help. For confiding in her with all of this." Michael said sullenly with a shake of his head as he started to pick at his fingers anxiously. Veronica tilted her head and grinned, her heart aching for him. She knew what they did wasn't exactly safe nor smart, but she also knew they were all desperate to save Lincoln's life. Veronica would never admit it out loud, but deep down, she was glad that Michael and Phoebe were doing this... She was glad they were going to get him out. She knew they would. She trusted them and their big brains, although she knew perfectly well that Phoebe hid her genius behind thick walls of crude humor and sarcasm.

"She would've followed you anyways." Veronica pointed out, "Whether you asked for her help or not. And I think you like having her here with you." Veronica said, not quite thinking about what she'd said and how she'd worded it, her stomach twisting uncomfortably in embarrassment as she realized she hadn't explained herself properly. Michael clenched his jaw, glaring at her, giving her no time to further explain or reword her thoughts.

"How could you possibly think that I like having Phoebe in prison?!" He snapped in a quiet angry tone, not wanting to draw any attention to them, much less the guards' or Phoebe's. "Because of me she lost everything." Michael sneered. Veronica sighed.
