00. ♞ PROLOGUE
PHOEBE BALDWIN held the larger hand of her best friend, waiting for the finishing touches on his tattoos before the two walked out of the small tattoo parlor. Phoebe's right arm stung and burned, for getting an entire sleeve done in such a short amount of time was painful but she was sure that her best friend, Michael Scofield, was feeling much more pain than she was, after all, he did get most of his upper body tattooed. The friends made their way to Michael's rather large and expensive loft. The tall white walls were buried under piles of newspaper clippings, blueprints, printed images of staff members of a penitentiary in Chicago, and the criminal case of Michael's older brother, Lincoln Burrows. Phoebe helped Michael carelessly tear down the sheets of paper that had been decorating the walls for ages, stuffing them into cheap black duffle bags to burn later on. Paper clips and staples pricked the tips of Phoebe's fingers every now and then, leaving behind some small cuts on them. When Phoebe finished, she watched Michael toss a hard drive into the lake down below the balcony outside of his loft, sinking to the bottom of the water to hide and erase all of its sensitive data.
Michael slowly turned to face Phoebe with a small smirk and a look of determination on his face, taking the surprisingly heavy duffle bags from her hands and setting them on the floor besides the front door.
