HWANG HYUNJIN X SHIN RYUJIN
Ryujin smiled at her phone as she scrolled through pictures of her and Hyunjin. She had already made dinner reservations at a fancy restaurant nearby, and she had the whole evening planned out. All he needed to do, was say the trigger word: happy anniversary.
She looked at the clock. It was about eight in the morning, so he should be coming down any second now.
Sure enough, the door upstairs opened, and large footsteps were heard creaking down the stairs.
Grinning, Ryujin looked at Hyunjin expectantly. He ruffled his morning hair and approached Ryujin...
Only to give her a light kiss on the lips.
"Morning baby,"
He spoke sleepily. Ryujin blinked. Did he not remember? Hyunjin curled up in her lap and spread his legs on the couch before dozing off again.
Ryujin decided to give him some more time to remember: after all, he was sleepy and had just woken up.
She leaned down and whispered in his ear.
"Morning Hyunjin-ah. Aren't you going to get up? Don't you remember what today is?"
She spoke as sweetly as she could. The man in her lap sat up all of a sudden, and faced her. Ryujin grinned, thinking he'd remembered, and he leaned in to kiss her again.
"You're right! Sorry, I have to go, I forgot about my important meeting at work,"
He ruffled her hair and ran upstairs, leaving Ryujin there, angry and hurt.
She combed through her hair with her fingers and folded her arms crossly as she walked over to make breakfast.
She might be angry, but she couldn't let Hyunjin leave the house without a proper meal, regardless.
During the day, she tried numerous times to get her husband to remember the day.
"What? It's the twenty third? Of what? Of July, did you forget what month it is?"
"Why are you so persistent about this?"
"I'm so confused..."
Giving up, she looked at the time. Six p.m. An hour before their reservation. He should be home right about... Now.
Ryujin sat on the couch, her arms folded, and her eyes glaring. The door oepend to reveal her infamous husband, and he stopped as soon as he saw her.
He gulped as he dropped his briefcase on the floor and ran up to her.
"Baby? Are you okay?"
He asked, concerned (for his own well being). Ryujin scowled at him and hit his shoulder, making him fall down dramatically.
She huffed and stood up, heading straight to the kitchen.
He rubbed his head. Ow. What did he forget?
He followed her to the kitchen, trying to soften her up with a kiss, but every time he leaned in, she turned her head, making it impossible for him to do so.
He groaned.
"What did I forget?"
He asked finally. Ryujin turned to him and screamed.
"Our anniversary, you idiot!"
Hyunjin frowned.
"You don't have to scream,"
"Yes I do! You don't even fucking remember this stuff! I planned out everything, we were going to go to a restaurant, and-"
"Forget it already, I'm not going just because you decided to scream at me today,"
Ryujin grit her teeth.
"Fine. I don't need you to go with me."
She grabbed her purse and headed upstairs to get ready.
"I can go on my own,"
SLAM!
Hyunjin flinched as he heard the door upstairs shut loudly.
He groaned. Why did he scream at her? She had every right to scream at him, he'd forgotten their anniversary!
Sighing, he swallowed his pride and headed upstairs to convince Ryujin to let him go.
Instead of hearing angry mumbling like he usually would, this time, he heard sobbing from behind the door.
His eyes widened and he bit his lip. Why the hell did he do that?
He entered the room and his eyes fell on Ryujin, who flinched and turned away from him, wiping her tears.
He approached her and hugged her from behind.
"I'm so sorry, Ryujin. I really am. I don't know why the hell I screamed at you because you had every right to yell at me. Hell, I forgot our anniversary, even I would yell at myself! I'm so sorry, Ryu, I don't deserve you. Please forgive me,"
His voice cracked at the end, making Ryujin tear up from his words.
She turned around and smiled through her tears.
"First of all, thank you. For admitting that you were in the wrong. Not a lot of people can do that,"
She smiled and kissed the tip of his nose. He smiled instantly.
"And secondly, never ever say that you don't deserve me. In this relationship, we are equal, and we both deserve each other, I know that for a fact. And I hope to end up with you for the rest of my life, I really do, Hyunjin. I love you so, so much,"
He smiled at her and hugged her tightly.
"I love you too, Ryujin-ah,"
He showed her a cute smile, and she shifted into his lap.
"Can we cuddle and just stay home?"
Ryujin asked cutely. Hyunjin smirked.
"Say please~" he teased her.
She rolled her eyes, but laughed as she kissed his lips happily.
This wasn't how she'd planned for her anniversary to go, but it turned out better than she expected.
