Ella trudged out of the store, clutching a costly shake she had been craving all day. It had been one of those days where nothing seemed to go right, and she hoped this little indulgence might lift her spirits. The cool evening air provided a slight respite as she stepped onto the sidewalk.Just then, a stray dog darted in front of her, causing her to stumble.
Desperately trying to regain her balance, she lurched forward—right into the path of an oncoming car.
In a split-second decision, she threw herself to the side, and in doing so, the shake flew out of her hands and splattered across the hood of the car.
The car screeched to a halt, and Ella's heart pounded in her chest. She looked up to see a sleek, expensive vehicle now decorated with the remnants of her shake. Her eyes widened in horror as the driver's door flew open and out stepped a tall, impeccably dressed man with a furious expression.Lucas emerged from the car, his jaw clenched. He looked at the mess on his car and then at Ella, his eyes blazing with anger. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" he snapped, his voice cold and sharp.Ella, still trying to catch her breath, stammered, "I-I'm sorry, it was an accident. The dog—""I don't care about the dog," Lucas interrupted, stepping closer. "Do you have any idea how much this car costs?"Ella's frustration bubbled over, her exhaustion and the stress of the day igniting her temper. "It was an accident! And maybe you should be more careful driving around here.""Careful?" Lucas scoffed. "You're the one who came out of nowhere and spilled your shake all over my car."Their argument escalated, each word sharper than the last. Bystanders began to stare, and the dog that had caused the commotion scampered away, unnoticed. Just as the quarrel reached its peak, Lucas's phone rang. He glanced at the screen, his expression shifting from anger to annoyance."Bitch," he muttered, more to himself than to Ella. He answered the call briefly, his tone curt, then turned back to Ella. "You're lucky I have somewhere more important to be. Consider this a warning. Stay out of my way."With that, Lucas got back into his car and drove off, leaving Ella standing on the sidewalk, her shake gone and her frustration peaking. She watched him disappear into the distance, muttering under her breath, "What a jerk."Little did she know, this was just the beginning of a tumultuous relationship that would change both of their lives forever.
