Antonnia POV
Not every day in our relationship was filled with romance and adventure. The distance often took its toll, leading to misunderstandings and petty fights. We sometimes argued about missed calls, the lack of time together, or simple miscommunications that were blown out of proportion by the strain of being apart.
One evening, after a particularly frustrating day, I found myself on a video call with Michelle. The tension was palpable as we both tried to navigate our feelings.
"I waited for your call last night," I said, my tone edged with frustration. "You said you'd be free."
"I'm sorry," she replied, feeling guilty. "Work ran late, and by the time I was done, it was too late to call. I should have messaged you."
"You always have an excuse," I shot back, my eyes flashing with hurt. "It feels like I'm not a priority sometimes."
Michelle felt a pang of anger rise within her. "That's not fair. I'm doing my best here. It's not easy balancing everything."
Our argument continued, each of us venting our frustrations. The distance amplified our insecurities, making small issues seem insurmountable. Finally, there was a heavy silence as we both took a moment to cool down.
After a few deep breaths, she spoke softly. "I hate fighting with you. I hate that we're so far apart and that it makes everything harder."
My expression softened. "Me too. I don't want to fight. I just miss you so much, and it's frustrating when we can't be together."
"I know," she said, her voice trembling. "But let's not let this distance tear us apart. We promised each other that we'd fix things at the end of the day, no matter what."
I nodded, tears glistening in my eyes. "You're right. I'm sorry for snapping at you. I love you, and I don't want to lose you over something like this."
"I love you too," she replied, her heart aching. "Let's make a pact. Whenever we fight, we'll take a step back, breathe, and remember why we're doing this. We'll always come back to each other and work it out."
We both smiled, the tension easing. "Deal," I said. "We'll face this together, no matter how tough it gets."
Over the next few months, we stuck to our promise. When disagreements arose, we took time to cool off before coming back together to talk things through. We learned to communicate better, to express our feelings without letting frustration cloud our judgment.
One night, after a particularly heated argument, she sent a heartfelt message.
"I know it's hard, and I know we both get frustrated. But I love you more than anything, and I believe in us. We'll get through this."
I responded almost immediately.
"I love you too. We're stronger together, even with the distance. Thank you for always coming back to me."
As time went on, our fights became less frequent and less intense. We grew stronger as a couple, our love deepening with each obstacle we overcame. We knew that the distance was just a temporary challenge, and that our love was worth every moment of struggle.
