"A-Ann?"

"Sorry I didn't mean to scare you" Ann apologize.

"Nah, Its okay. Cant sleep?" I removed my headphone and put it aside. I smile at her.

"Yeah" she sigh

"Same here"

Ann remained standing, her hands on the back. They didn't know how to start the conversation. There were obvious palpable tension between them. Michelle beat her though.

"Congratulations by the way" Michelle say

"Thank you" she smiled sparingly. Hesitantly she asked "You? How about you? Do you have someone?"

"Nah, I dont have and besides I was too busy after my turnover. Lots of opportunities and offers, these was once a lifetime so I grab it.

Ann sits beside her, her lips were drawn up in the corner, facing down "I'm sorry I broke our promise that I will be there in the day of your turnover"

"Dont apologise, Ann. Its not your fault. I know what happened and I should be the one sorry because I should have known"

"But it's unfair, you came to Thailand to see my turnover."

Her jaw dropped. She wants to deny it because she did not want to inform her that trully she was there.

Before she can deny it, Ann speaks as if she knows what she will say.

"Yes, I know it, my manager saw you that night. Why you did not approach me?" she asks

"Cause I dont want attract attention. It is your night and I want you to enjoy it" she explained.

Their gazed locks in each other. Ann staring her intensely, she did not know whether it it sadness or anger in her eyes.

Their face moving towards each other, like a having invisible force pushing. Michelle catapulted off in her seat as they heard a loud thunder come from out of nowhere.

"Lets go inside, the rain starting to fall hard" she said gesturing to follow her. They went inside the elevator, shoulder to shoulder, their hands almost touching.

The elevator stops and Ann had to go out first. She started to walk, then stop and turn face Michelle

"See you tomorrow"

"Good night"

"Yeah, we better get a good night's sleep."

Eventually, she finds herself drawn back in her room, ready to surrender to the embrace of sleep as she finally lay down to rest.

Antonnia POV

I cannot sleep. I toss and turn, trying to find that elusive position of comfort, but it remains just out of reach. My eyes are heavy, but every time I close them, it's as if a movie the scenery of Michelle and Nalin starts playing.

I decided to have a stroll, reaching the poolside. I breathe in the fresh evening air, letting it fill my lungs with tranquility. I saw a familiar figure, lying down on leisure bed. Her eyes close, a pair of headphone encase on her ears probably listening to a music. Her expression relax and contented smile grace on her lips.

I went near her to be sure, unconsciously staring at her. Suddenly, she opened her eyes and maybe she never thought she would see me in that place or at that time. Her eyes widen in surprise, her breath catching in her throat as she tries to make sense of the unexpected encounter.

I was sorry for invading her peaceful time.

The atmosphere was casual, yet a palpable tension lingered between us.The conversation is punctuated by long silences. Our voices, once filled with warmth and laughter, now carry a tinge of hesitation, a reflection of the distance that has grown between us.
