Mancini's POV
The first time I met Keira, she was holding a shovel and she threatened me with it. At that moment I found it amusing because of how harmless she seemed. She has such an innocent face, a curious expression in her calm blue eyes even when she's not asking a question and the softest tone. She is not at all threatening.

But it's that nature that disarms anyone who dares to threaten her safety. No one expects her to be the person she becomes when threatened. The incident in Geneva and what I saw tonight tell me so. She was ready to go into a shoot out. She's stronger than she thinks. I feel a need to mould her through fire until she achieves her potential. I'll put my beautiful rose through the fire so that no one will ever break her.

"The estate is clear of Conti's and Moretti's men." Russo informed me. "Most of them are dead and the others-"

"Where is Moretti?" I asked the only question I want an answer to.

Moretti has always had strong opinions. He was never in favor of my ambitions for Keira. His ginger for power, to replace me was however concealed very well. He portrayed himself as my biggest supporter, always eager to lend a hand and enforce my wishes. Right now I'm wondering if he was behind my attempted murder or he was simply lashing out against my supposed assassination.

"He escaped with Conti. I've sent out men to look for them. I promise we will find them."

"Hmmm... I want all staff vetted afresh. I want to know who came into my home and tried to kill me. I want to know who she was working with."

"Si Signore."

"Bring in the others. I want a meeting."

"Si Signore." He stepped out to call them.

My attention shifted to the closed glass doors. I haven't gotten an opportunity to speak to her and find out if she's okay. I'm eager to hold her in my arms and assure her of my protection. She must be scared.

"Signore." They all acknowledged me.

I can't say all these men have my trust. Bianchi, I trust but not so much. Off late, he's giving me bad vibes. Gallo and Valenti are the last ones I'll ever turn to for anything. Rossi is always trying to play both sides. Tancredi is a straight shooter. He has potential to be a great ally if fully won over.

"What a rough week. Honestly, when I was lying on the floor, fighting for my life I didn't think I'd ever see your faces again. It pleases me even more to find out that you fought for my interests even when you though me dead. I'm grateful."

"We are at ease now that we see you alive and well." Bianchi responded.

"Whatever you need from us, consider it done." Tancredi assured me.

"Where is the other one? Vicari?"

"Outside." Russo answered.

"Is like a word with him. The rest of you can go."

They left one by one but Bianchi hanged back.

"Signore, I'm glad you showed up. The uncertainty of your condition stirred an uprising. I know it is hardly time to say so but a lack of a successor is a recipe for disaster."

Giorgio was my successor. His death left me out of sorts. My other two sons have never wanted anything to do with the mafia. I respect their wishes.

"In due time."

"Si Signore."

"Bianchi, thank you."

He nodded and took his leave.

Again I turned to the glass doors. She's very quiet. I'm looking forward to being alone with her, to feel the comfort of her embrace after this trying period.
