Keira's POV
In ten hours I'll say my vows and become Mrs Mancini. I can barely fall asleep. Leen is here with me, also awake. The rest of the girls agreed to stay in the Hamptons with Nick. The mansion is quiet at night. He wanted to be sure I'll show up at the wedding. He demanded that I sleep here. We are both lying on our backs looking up at the shadows cast on the white ceiling. The little diamond chandelier is catching any reflection of light from outside.

"Have you ever been this nervous on your other weddings?" Leen asked me.

I burst out laughing rather suddenly. She giggled. "I... I was nervous on my first wedding. I was really nervous. I was only 22."

"That is pretty young."

"It was more of a contract than a marriage. My family was in financial trouble and I conv nced my dad it was a good idea. Man was I wrong!" I laughed. I turned to look at her. "I was nervous when I married Sinclair. But not because of the marriage. It was because I was scared of Nick catching on about the pregnancy. Also, Sinclair getting caught in a lie."

"What do you mean?" She inquired about her husband with a frown on her face.

"I signed an NDA."

"Oh please!" She rolled her eyes. "My curiosity is piqued, you have to tell me."

"Just know you can't use it against him. Promise me."

"Scout's honor."

"Liar." I chuckled. "He needed the lie about the twins patronage to stick. That is the only way he was getting all of his inheritance."

"Wow. Blackmail worthy!"

"Don't. I signed an NDA. Knowing your husband, he won't hesitate to sue me."

"I understand. Why is this marriage making you nervous?"

"It's because of who he is." I answered. "When I found out about Nick and the mafia I wanted to flee to the farthest ends of the earth. I wanted to keep my children away from it. But he happened. Mancini. He wouldn't stop coming after me and here I am. In the very essence of what I was running from. That scares me. It's like marrying a king, a powerful and dangerous man. Instead of benevolence there's malevolence. Dark malevolence. I'm to share my life with him. That scares me."

"He loves you." She told me. "He will never hurt you, right?"

"Conditionally. As long as I don't mess up."

"What is messing up? Ratting him out?"

"That and cheating."

"The latter is a weakness if the man isn't Nick."

"It's not going to happen this time. I have to be very careful."

"What? Why are you frowning?"

I sat up and drew the covers away, setting my bare feet on the fluffy rug under my feet. "I need some assurances. Uh... I'll be right back."

"Where are you going?"

I threw on a silk robe.

"To talk to Mancini."

"Pillow talk? Please wait till your wedding night."

"No. Not pillow talk. I'll be right back."

I left her behind. As soon as I hit the hallway, I noticed the bodyguards. I walked among them until I realized I don't even know where Mancini's room is.

"Excuse me, Mancini?" I asked. I hope they speak English.

One of them pointed to double doors directly ahead of me. I walked to them, feet getting heavier by the second. The guard waiting outside approached. It's not Russo.
