The drive back was a silent one. Kazuha blindfolded Dottore again before we left and Dottore seemed to stay lost in his thoughts until we returned home.
The drive back gave me a bit more time to decide on Dottore's arrangements.
Obviously, I couldn't leave him alone. Even if he were looking for our protection from the law that still didn't mean he wouldn't try anything. After all who needed our protection if he had our wealth and power?
For now, I could have Kazuha move him around but Kazuha wasn't a babysitter. He had other tasks that would require him to be away from the manor. This only left one option.
I'd have to do it myself.
That would be a hindrance, but I couldn't imagine letting any of the guards get too close to him. They were professionals but Dottore was sneaky. He'd probably create some sort of poison to kill them all if they weren't careful. I guess the same could be said about me, but again unlike the guards I had an immunity and tolerance to certain poisons. I also was more well-trained in detecting them. He wouldn't be able to get me that easily.
This did not mean I wouldn't use the guards at all though.
Kazuha helped drag Dottore back into the house where we all stood at the front entrance.
"So what's your great plan now?" Dottore asked sarcastically.
"Hmm..." I thought, "I was thinking perhaps I'll lock you up in a room with shackles for the rest of eternity and force you to create poisons. What do you think?"
He rolled his eyes, "I do hope you're joking."
I shrugged, "Shall we find out?"
He clicked his tongue, "You're a quick one aren't you."
"Well, I did catch you," I remarked.
He let out a small laugh, "Indeed you did."
"Moving on. Let's discuss your arrangements."
His attention perked up and he focused back on me.
"We both know I don't trust you. This means until you can earn my trust if you ever do, you'll be under heavy surveillance. For the time being you'll stay with me in my own room until I can set you up elsewhere. I'll provide you with a room to conduct your research as well as the materials you may need. You only get one chance Dottore. Nobody else in the underworld will give you one. So don't screw it up."
