The two of us returned to my room. The conversation was filled with thinly veiled threats and banter.
I could already tell having Dottore around was going to make things a lot more livelier around here.
The guards had set him up a spot on the floor. It was furthest away from the door but close enough to me in case of an emergency. The setup was a cot and a few blankets. Eventually, he'd get his own room but for now, things still needed to be arranged. So unfortunately for him, he was stuck with me.
"Wow, aren't I lucky?" He spoke approaching the cot.
Taking a seat he bounced a bit.
"But I still think your bed looks a lot better what do you think?"
I stretched my arms out as I approached my own bed.
"The only thing I sleep with is a pistol. Don't forget it unless you'd like to meet her."
I glanced down at the side of my bed to see the box of Dottore's things. Using my foot I pushed it underneath the bed hidden from view.
"No, not particularly. Good night Madam. Don't let the bed bugs bite."
I glanced over at Dottore as he settled into his cot. I didn't miss the sly grin on his face.
His back faced away from me.
I looked around the room to ensure I had taken all the necessary precautions. Windows were locked and guarded by snipers. Doors were also locked with guards posted outside. The pistol was in the bed and cameras were on.
I wouldn't be sleeping once again. Not that it was a huge deal. There had been times when I had to go days without sleep. Until his room was set up I didn't think I could allow myself any rest. On the off chance that I did fall asleep, I'd definitely wake up at the sound of anything, especially movement.
Sometimes it really did feel as if I slept with one eye open.
However, unlike the last night, tonight I was going to pretend to sleep. I was curious to see how he would act or whether he'd know if I were awake.
Judging from what I did know Dottore didn't have any past involvements in the underworld. He did seem to have some training in using knives but how far that training went I wasn't aware yet. He didn't seem to have much physical training, but if he did workout I imagine it wouldn't take much effort.
