Dair and I sat in my room, surrounded by the lingering uncertainty from our discoveries on Clara's laptop. The snippets of information about our connection left us both frustrated and grasping for answers.

"I can't wrap my head around what we should do next," I sighed heavily, feeling the weight of confusion pressing down on me.

Dair remained silent for a while, lost in thought. Finally, he spoke, his voice measured and contemplative. "Amber, remember when you mentioned someone was following you the other day?"

I nodded, a knot of apprehension forming in my stomach. "Yeah, but what does that have to do with all of this?"

"If someone was following you," Dair continued, "it could mean they were keeping tabs on you—or on both of us."

"You think they could be working for Clara?" I suggested, trying to connect the dots.

Dair shook his head. "I don't think so. Consider this: Clara has access to vast resources through her partnership with Dr. Stevenson and she is also very close to you. She wouldn't need to hire someone to surveil you covertly."

"You have a point," I admitted, conceding his logic. "So who could it have been?"

"That's the question," Dair mused, his brow furrowing in concentration. "When you confronted Clara, what did she say exactly?"

"She said she couldn't tell me everything because of orders from higher-ups," I recalled, frustration creeping into my voice. "And that we're part of something bigger. She claimed everything she did was to protect us."

"Protect us from what, though?" Dair posed the question, his eyes locking onto mine with a searching intensity.

I fell silent, contemplating his words and appreciating his insight.

"Kal, you're extraordinary," Dair continued, his tone soft yet resolute. "You have powers, and our connection alone could draw attention. I don't know what lies at the other end of this, but I sense danger ahead."

"So you're suggesting Clara was genuinely trying to help me, just covertly," I pieced together his implications, the puzzle beginning to take shape in my mind. "And there's someone who is trying to harm us and that Clara was ordered from those so- called higher ups to protect us ."

"Exactly," Dair affirmed. "And we need to find out who they are and what they want."

"I think we should talk to Clara again," Dair suggested after a moment of reflection.

"Or Dr. Stevenson," I added, my mind racing with possibilities. "He's not just my therapist; he's Clara's partner. He must know too."

Dair nodded in agreement, a plan forming between us.

The next day, Dair came to my house and we confronted Clara , hoping she could provide more clarity. Clara greeted Dair and looked towards me  sensing the weight of our unasked questions hanging between us like a heavy curtain.
