5th Lap - Locked In

We're on my road to the top. It's Wednesday, and the first round of the tournament is on Friday. I am currently experimenting with the Monaco Circuit, and it's a beautiful track, with some tight ass turns, my lord. I'm still trying to find a GT setup that's still allowed in the tournament. I think I perfected it Monday, but the tweaks on the spoiler are annoying.

You know what? Fuck it, I'm dropping this Porsche in the dumpster, it's an amazing car, but it won't work for this, it's a matter of skill issue. I switch to the NSX I have tuned up, and that seems to be cutting the corners like a hot knife through butter. I don't mean to meat-ride Acura, but they built a crazy machine that just seems to work for me.

On Monday... I tried everything... so this last-minute switch is a horrible idea, but I think this will benefit me in the long run, and it'll score me brownie points with Acura, hopefully, maybe.

They broke the event down nice, but I put it into dummy terms for myself.

Event 1, 50 players, 5 sessions happening with 10 racers in each of them. Advancing participants are the top 6 from each session.

Event 2, 30 players, 3 sessions happening with 10 racers in each of them. Advancing participants are the top 5 from each session.

Event 3, the finals, 15 players, 1 session, 15 racers in that one final session, so it's a bigger one. The top 10 are the ones being chosen from across the world to race at the academy. That really has to suck to be 11th place...

And I mean... about the NSX, you kinda have to use it in the final round, like it's locked to that car, so you... really should be using it for events 1 and 2. The best part about this game, is when you're racing offline, rewind is a thing, just like Forza. I repeat the corners around the Nürburgring, again... and again, until I master the track as best as I can.

I figured out just how to brake coming into the turns that send people airborne, or over a hillside. and I think the NSX was a good car for the job. I hear my dad coming into my room, I can tell.

Dad: So... you can repeat the same part over and over again, on repeat?

Y/N: You can, yep... I do it... to experiment.

Dad: So why aren't you following the racing line?

Y/N: In some cases... it isn't optimal. You would follow the racing line, if you want to brake late and risk a crash, or worse, overcompensate and lose your position. What I do... is I come from an angle, outside the pack, and while people are rapidly slowing down, no matter what air we catch on this corner, I am guaranteed to overtake someone, anyone around me.

I slide right in front of a Ford Mustang GT3 car, right in front of his eyes.

Y/N: Like that, see?

Dad: Hmmmm...

Y/N: Also, it makes the hill less stressful for the car, requiring less torque to go diagonal.

Dad: What's the prize they give for the first round?

Y/N: 1st round is 25 grand for first, and it divides by 2 for each position up until 3rd place. 2nd round is 100 grand, same thing, and the 3rd is 250 grand, the same thing.

Dad: So, you could get 3rd place on all the races.

Y/N: And still make some okay change, but most importantly, I'll be winning the grand prize even in 3rd.

Dad: And what's that?

Y/N: I get to head to Piltover's Honda, now Acura, headquarters, as well as check out Acura Motorsport too.
