The seething broth smoothly slid down her throat, she hissed at the pleasuring taste. "I know your kind, Wakita." The latter's brow raised as she watched her set down the bowl.

"My... kind?" She almost laughed.

"You're like my baby brother. He yaps his mouth off until the other, albeit annoyed, gives in and talks too."

Ami squints her eyes, fascinated by this family-oriented side of her. "I'll take that as a compliment."

"You're persistent, never the beggar and I respect that." She sighs. "Mr. Sato and I go back five years, eight months, and seven days ago."

"You're counting?" She asked with an amused smirk.

"Sure." Since then five years, eight months, and seven days consisted of daily phone calls with Hayao. Counting was all part of business. "I won't lie when I say I've grown attached to Mr. Ken."

"Well, I can say with confidence that he's definitely attached to you." Ami sipped her tea. A wavering uncertainty crossed through Y/n's eyes. "But you don't want that, do you...?"

A sorrowful smile etched Y/n's face. "Do you have someone you love, Miss. Wakita?"

"My mom and my daughter." She proudly recites.

"If one of them betrayed you, would you be willing to forgive them?"

"There are certain situations where forgiveness can be difficult. Nevertheless, they're family, and I'll love them no matter what... May I input my opinion, Miss. L/n—"

"Y/n's fine. Just a dinner between two women, remember?"

Ami scooted closer, resting her laced hands on her lap. "Y/n, correct me if I'm wrong, a-and please stop me if I offend you, but is there a possibility there's an emotional blockage you maintain with Mr. Sato?"

She wasn't in the least surprised Ami figured it out. "A job is a job. An assistant is just an assistant. If there's by any chance I affect our stability because of me..." She wouldn't know what to do with herself. Hayao didn't hire her to be an emotional rag doll but to be the transparent bridge to keep in touch with his son disguised as a companion.

"Do you care about him?"

"I... care about him as an assistant."

She placed a hand on top of Y/n's, firmly staring into her guarded eyes. "And what about Y/n L/n, what does she have to say?"

Y/n shook her head, pulling her hand back. "Damn, you're good."
