She sat on the steps, her head leaning against the cool glass as she looked on to see the man checking himself out in the faintest reflection.
A faint smile graces her lips as her eyes follow his every gesture, admiring the way he combed his hair with his fingers and straightened his snazzy, black blazer. That was until a mini Y/n slapped her head, lecturing her on staring a bit too long at her boss.
It was the first one-on-one interview he voluntarily attended in years. The last time was... Let's just say the poor man wept his way to the exit.
"Now, if she wakes up, put her show on. Let her dance her little heart out to that stupid song."
"I don't think it's stupid," Y/n whispers, glancing back to adore the kaiju's belly softly expanding as she was completely deep in her sleep.
"I can listen to it for hours." She rolls her eyes at the immediate change. "And if there's any trouble, you ping me on this, got it?" Ken points at his watch. After the excruciating two months Y/n had spent her nights here, she felt oddly secure watching Kenji leave her and Mina alone for once.
"Ken. She's never been safer. Have a good time." Like a mother, Mina wanted to dump him out of the comfort of their nest and soar.
His bright smile veers toward Y/n. "Are you sure you're fine here? I can drop you off on the way."
She stands up sluggishly, her movements deliberate as she sweeps her hair over her shoulder, h/c locks pooling down her back. A feature of Y/n that Ken always stared at. The way she twists her hair around her finger, the way she ties it up in the sleekest of ponytails in quick need, or the way she pulls it back and out of her face whenever the stress got to her.
It was difficult enough she is oblivious to his flirtatious moves, but everything Y/n did lured him closer into the inescapable whirlwind of feelings he felt for her.
A lazy smirk tugged at the corner of her lips. "And break my 72nd streak of living here? I could never. Besides, I'd rather take a car."
Ken slid a hand on the nape of his neck. "Never knew it took a baby kaiju for you to stay the night," he responded, mischief laced in his words. "Guess I should've gotten one sooner."
"Mr. Ken, I believe you'll be late if you chat with me any longer." Y/n dropped the witty act. "Go..." Her shoulders slightly dropped watching his lingering gaze remain on hers as he waved off heading to the elevator.
The struggle to maintain a steady breathing pattern hindered the basic skill to converse with Kenji. "When did it get so hard to talk to him...?" She plopped down on the steps.
