Maeve

I'm stuck again inside these walls; I can feel the walls closing in on me every time I walk by the corridors holding Luna's breakfast between my hands. Trying not to tremble, I quicken my pace, feeling as if the corridors themselves are inching closer, threatening to swallow me whole. The weight of the breakfast tray intensifies with each step, adding to my sense of unease.

Desperate to escape the suffocating grip of these walls, I break into a run. My heart pounds in my chest, and my mind races with memories of the pain I had endured within these very confines. The echoes of past suffering reverberate through my thoughts, further fueling my anxiety.

Suddenly, Luna's voice slices through the air, piercing my frantic state of mind. "MAEVE!" she calls out, her tone filled with urgency. Startled, I stumble, and the breakfast tray slips from my grasp. The once carefully prepared meal crashes to the floor, shattering the fragile moment of respite.

"Jesus..." I mutter, my voice a mere whisper in the midst of chaos. I stand there, frozen, a mix of frustration and fear swirling within me. The shattered breakfast serves as a stark reminder of my own fragility and the challenges that confront me within these confining walls.

With a deep breath, I gather myself, determined to overcome the obstacles that threaten to consume me. Luna's voice continues to echo, and I realize that she too relies on me, not just for breakfast but for the plan of protecting me.

With renewed determination, I begin to pick up the broken pieces of the breakfast, slowly, I reassemble the meal, piece by piece. I found Luna's hand helping me picking up what is left on the floor.

"What's wrong with you?" Luna's voice is tinged with concern as she looks at me, her eyes searching mine for answers.

I take a deep breath, trying to steady myself as I respond, "I felt as if the walls were closing on me, and I couldn't breathe. And when you called me, I just... I hate this castle. I'm sorry for ruining your morning."

Luna's expression softens, and she reaches out to gently touch my arm. "It's fine," she reassures me, her voice filled with understanding. "You don't have to apologize. Your well-being is more important to me than any breakfast. Maybe you should rest today. I can call my maids to bring me some breakfast."

Nodding in agreement, I allow her to help me stand up, leaning on her for support as we make our way to my room, which conveniently lies just one door away from her own room and the balcony.

As I enter my room, a sanctuary of sorts, I feel a slight sense of relief. The walls here are less imposing, the space more intimate and familiar. Luna ensures I'm settled comfortably, her care evident in every gesture.

"Rest and take the time you need," Luna encourages me, her voice filled with genuine concern. "I'll check in on you later."

I couldn't sleep, my mind racing with thoughts of tomorrow and the future that lay ahead. I abruptly jumped out of bed, feeling the need to explore my room since I was too exhausted to do so last night. I hadn't even had a chance to check Luna's room, although I knew it was a spacious room with a terrace adorned with colorful flowers.

Yesterday, I met with my mother and shared my decision to return. She was upset but also wanted me to stay with her. The twins were thrilled to see me alive, but I felt guilty for leaving the letter they had given me behind in my bag on the road.

Luna insisted that I stay in the small room next to hers so she could keep an eye on me. As I looked around the room, I noticed a small writing table and clothes attached to the walls. There was also a small couch and a bed where I slept. Facing the bed, there was a door that led to the terrace. I decided to take a walk outside, allowing my hands to rest and taking in a deep breath. To my surprise, I heard the sound of birds mixed with the clashing of swords. I looked down and saw warriors training. It brought a smile to my face, as if I had found my place among them.
