Luna
Her hair, her breath, her deep sleep, her eyebrows, her lips, her eyelashes, her nose - all these thoughts consume my mind while I woke up in the middle of the night. I am captivated by her peaceful slumber, as she rests beside me. Sleep eludes me as I recall the moment, she gently moved my book aside, without seeking permission. The softness of her presence on my bed, her sense of security, I never stopped gazing at her while she's sleeping, every time I wake up in the middle of the night, I go to her room and look at her for a while. I never had a good sleep in this castle, not once, and since I was a child, I wake up at night thinking about my future here and worries that never let me sleep again. But for Maeve it was fast sleep, she sleeps like babies after playing all day long, but she never played yet she started practicing for her warrior skills.
Speaking of Maeve I remember her touch on my face, as she wiped away the cream. Her words, her smile, her enigmatic mind, and her relentless pursuit of excellence. Every day, I witness her unwavering dedication as she gazes at the warriors, until one day, she revealed her true desires. A protector for me? Or perhaps fame, like all warriors yearn for? But she is different, from the moment we met, my heart has never ceased its rapid beats in her presence. Since our first breakfast together, I have always invited Maeve to sit by my side. Each day, we grow closer. As she began her training, she diligently fulfills her duties, arranging everything in my room before retiring early.
There was a period of time when I didn't have the chance to see her, but on her first day of training with the warriors, joyous moments filled the air. As we descended together to meet her training group, nervousness consumed her. There was a particular boy named Daniel, whom she never failed to mention whenever she came to tidy up my room. It worried me, fearing that she might develop feelings for him. However, seeing her happiness, I allowed her to share her experiences—how he trained her and how she was honing her skills. She even demonstrated her progress to me. All I did was listen attentively, captivated by her words, and basked in her radiant smile, which reflected her happiness. Yet, I began to feel her absence, sensing that she hadn't been spending as much time with me in recent days. Her routine consisted solely of completing her training, tidying my room, and retiring for the night without eating.
"Wow, wow, wow! Isn't it too early for you to go to sleep?" I exclaimed.
"No, I've finished everything for you, and I'm exhausted!" she replied, crawling into her bed.
"Maeve, I haven't seen you in days!"
"I know, but I have to wake up early. Tomorrow is a crucial day. A legendary warrior is coming to observe our training, and there's a chance that one of us might be chosen to receive a special sword. I can't afford to miss this opportunity!"
"Fine, but you're not going to sleep right now! Get up!"
"Luna, please..."
"I said no! Come on, I want to have dinner with you!"
She nodded and joined me in my room, sitting beside me. Her eyes were heavy with fatigue, but she still made the effort to be there.
"Eat!" I handed her a piece of bread. "You haven't been eating well."
"No, I am eating. The guys down there invited me to eat with them..."
"Seriously? I always thought you weren't eating, Maeve! Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't get the chance, and I didn't expect you to be concerned about it either..."
"I am concerned!" I stopped eating upon realizing she was dining with them instead of me. I even had doubts that she was eating with Daniel. "Are you eating with him?"
