Maeve

The castle's corridors were eerily quiet as I walked through them, the weight of recent events bearing down on me. I had left Luna locked in our room, a necessary precaution to ensure she didn't act recklessly. It was a painful decision, but I believed it was for her own safety. We had both betrayed each other, and forgiveness seemed like an impossible feat.

Lost in my thoughts, I pondered how I could ever find it in my heart to forgive Luna for keeping such a monumental secret from me. She had concealed my true destiny, my identity as a queen, all in the name of love. She had wanted to protect me from the burdens of royalty, from the dangers that lay ahead. But destiny had a way of catching up with us all, and now I found myself torn between love and duty.

In Sebastian's room, I interrupted his writing with an unexpected declaration. "Hi," he greeted, confusion etching his features. "What are you doing here on your wedding day, and where are my guards?"

"I know it's my wedding day, and what's about to happen will shock you," I replied calmly, my resolve unwavering. I called for the guards to enter, their presence creating an air of tension in the room. "Take him away to the cell."

"What the hell is going on? I'm your King!" Luna's brother protested vehemently; his voice tinged with panic as the guards moved to apprehend him.

"You are nothing. The only Queen here is Maeve," one of the guards declared, locking eyes with me as they led Sebastian away.

With Sebastian taken care of, I entered the room, where my mother, Elizabeth, was waiting. She had been in on the plan, and her eyes held a mixture of pride and concern.

"It's over," I stated, a sense of finality settling over me.

"I thought you would do it without anyone seeing you. Why did you expose yourself?" Elizabeth asked, her tone curious.

"Because I'm sick of lying," I admitted, my frustration evident. "Luna knew I was a queen, and she chose to keep it from me."

"Of course, she's a Nightshade," my mother mused. "And what are you going to do with her?"

"She's my wife," I replied firmly. "I won't let her go. There's history between us."

"And if she wants to go?" Elizabeth inquired, her voice gentle.

"It's not the right time to talk about that, mother," I replied, my emotions in turmoil. I turned to leave, needing some space to think.

"You care about her so much," she observed with a knowing smile.

"I love her, I do," I confessed before walking away, leaving my mother behind in the room as I sought solace in the castle's garden, grappling with the complicated web of emotions that had come to define my life.

Luna

"Let me out of here," I pleaded, my voice frantic as I pounded on the door. "Maeve... open the door!" My cries echoed in the room, and I couldn't hold back the tears. My hands ached from the relentless pounding, and in my desperation, I rushed to the desk, grabbed a chair, and used it to forcefully break the door open.

The woman of war entered, her expression a mix of curiosity and concern. "What's going on with all this screaming?"

A sigh of relief escaped my lips. "We meet again!" I managed to say through my choked sobs.

"I'm glad to see you alive!" Her words carried genuine warmth.

"I'll always survive!" I declared with determination, though my trembling hands and tear-stained cheeks told a different story.
