Romeo Lianni's POV30 minutes previous
"Eyes on the ground. Eyes in the sky. We're taking these fuckers down." I got the alert through earlier this morning that shit was going down back at base.
These guys knew I wasn't in town but instead of acting with raw force to claim one of my warehouses, these fuckers chose to lure me out.
But there's only so many times you should poke the bear before he bites back.
And now that I have the knowledge that I do, pissed is the last word on my mind.
Back at the cabin, Zero awoke me with a code red. He said he was doing the surveillance checks on all the bases when something flagged up. Or should I say someone, flagged up.
Two figures dressed in black were attempting to appear inconspicuous on the outskirts of my main warehouse. When Zero got Miguel to look into it more - Guel being a tech genius - shit went down.
It wasn't just two men hanging around in the early hours of the morning, it was five vehicles all surrounding the perimeter and outskirts.
But that wasn't the only fucking thing. We caught a facial recognition on one of the assholes loitering around in plain sight.
Samuel Curtis. Pollies biological father.
My blood ran cold, my brain not comprehending what the hell is my life.
The first thing I did was order checks on the current status of all of Stella's family members. Within ten minutes I had reports of her sister, her brother, her sister's partner, her mother and her step father's movements from the past 24hours.
They were safe and they were all guarded by my men.
So what the hell did this sicko want with me?
Obvious answer would be his daughter, my Stella. But thinking rationally, from what my love had told me, is that her so called father is a low life who she wants nothing to do with.
So. What. The. Hell. Does. He. Want?
And how the hell did he make the connection from Pollie to me? I've not lived this lifestyle for 24 years to assume that this is some sort of coincidence.
All throughout the plane journey, we were making hushed plans and going over what to expect when we reached the base. I was already expecting it to go one of two ways, but when my brother, Z, Miguel and even Xavier showed up with trucks loaded with weapons, it was safe to assume the opposite team was planning on playing dirty.
But all whilst I was being the mob boss my father had taught me to be, I had to witness my girl sat on the plane with such terror in her eyes, that I thought she was might break.
It killed me to see her so distraught about the chaos that was unfolding, but I thought I'd leave it just as that. Chaos.
And I know it was shitty to not tell her the details, and I know we spoke about keeping each other updated with what's going on in our lives, me especially, but my Stell didn't need this. Not when I didn't know the whole situation yet anyway.
