Felix leaned forward, his fingers tightening around the warm coffee cup in his hands. His gaze was fixed on Taehyung, who sat across from him, eyes gleaming with something unsettling—obsession.

"I’ve been watching Jungkook for a month now," Taehyung admitted, his voice smooth but laced with something darker. "I know his schedule, his likes, his dislikes... everything."
Felix's stomach twisted. He had always known Taehyung was intense, but this—this was dangerous.
"What if he doesn’t feel the same way?" Felix asked carefully, searching Taehyung’s face for a hint of doubt, but there was none. "What if he rejects you?"
A slow smirk played on Taehyung’s lips, his fingers tapping rhythmically against the wooden table. "He won’t. Jungkook and I are the same—cold, arrogant, and untouchable. We’re meant to be."
Felix swallowed hard. No, you’re nothing alike, Taehyung. Jungkook was warm, bright—a stark contrast to the icy demeanor Taehyung clung to. Felix had seen how Taehyung's expression shifted whenever he spoke about Jungkook, the way his voice softened, the way his eyes darkened with something almost predatory.

Still, Felix couldn't just sit back and watch his friend spiral. "You haven’t even had a real conversation with him, Tae. Watching someone from the shadows isn’t the same as being close to them."
Taehyung’s smirk vanished. His expression hardened, irritation flickering across his features. "I don’t need your approval, Felix. I’m just telling you what’s going to happen."
Felix sighed, knowing there was no arguing with him when he was like this. But the worry in his heart only grew.
The Twin’s Concern
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Dowoon paced restlessly outside his lecture hall, his phone clutched tightly in his hand. His twin brother had been avoiding him for weeks, and the silence was eating away at him.

Jaehyun, his boyfriend, placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Try calling him again. Maybe this time he’ll pick up."
Dowoon let out a frustrated sigh. "He won’t. He never does. I don’t even know if he’s okay." His heart ached at the thought. "I don’t understand why he’s pushing me away."
Jaehyun hesitated before suggesting, "Maybe Felix knows something?"
Dowoon's eyes lit up with hope. "You’re right! If anyone knows where Taehyung is, it’s Felix."
They found Felix sitting alone on a bench in the university garden, his brows furrowed in thought. At the sight of Dowoon, Felix straightened, already bracing for the question he knew was coming.
"Where’s Taehyung?" Dowoon demanded, his voice laced with concern. "He was supposed to come home for dinner, but he never showed up. It’s been a month, Felix!"
Felix hesitated before answering. "He said he’s busy. That he didn’t hear about the dinner."
Dowoon’s frustration grew. "That’s a lie. He’s ignoring us on purpose." He ran a hand through his hair. "Please, Felix, just call him. I need to know if he’s okay."
Felix knew Taehyung wouldn't be happy about it, but he pulled out his phone anyway and dialed. The call rang twice before a deep, slow voice answered.
"Hmm… Felix, what is it?"
Felix shot Dowoon a look before asking, "Are you coming to university today or not?"
Taehyung's response was curt. "Yes, I’m free. I’ll come."
But Felix knew better.
A Glimmer of Hope
Later that evening, Dowoon sat on his bed, staring at his phone. He hadn’t expected Taehyung to call back, so when his phone lit up with an incoming call, his heart nearly stopped.
He quickly answered. "Tae?! Where are you?"
There was a pause before Taehyung’s voice came through—cool, detached. "I met Felix at a café. Don’t worry about me, Dowoon. I’m not a kid."
Dowoon bit his lip, unsure how to respond. But before he could say anything, Taehyung spoke again, his tone quieter. "I’ll come tomorrow. For dinner."
Dowoon’s breath caught. "You… you will?"
"Yeah," Taehyung muttered. "Just don’t make a big deal out of it."
A wide smile spread across Dowoon’s face. "Mom and Dad will be so happy! We’ll make your favorite dish!"
A silence stretched between them before Taehyung finally replied, "Okay." Then the line went dead.
Dowoon stared at his phone, disbelief and relief washing over him. He turned to Jaehyun, who had been watching him expectantly. "He’s coming home."
Jaehyun grinned. "That’s amazing! Maybe this is the first step toward fixing things."
Dowoon nodded, hope blooming in his chest for the first time in a long time. "Maybe it is."
A Lonely Heart
As the call ended, Taehyung set his phone down and leaned back against his chair, staring blankly at the dimly lit café. The warmth of the room felt distant, unwelcoming.
His fingers curled into fists. Why did I agree to go?
He knew why.
It wasn’t because he missed them. It wasn’t because he wanted to make amends.
It was because of Jungkook.
Because with Jungkook gone on his business trip, the emptiness inside him had grown unbearable. His mind had been consumed by thoughts of him, his absence leaving a hollow ache that Taehyung didn’t know how to fill.
And maybe—just maybe—going home would serve as a distraction.
Felix’s voice echoed in his mind. You need your family, Taehyung. Even if you don’t want to admit it.
Taehyung closed his eyes, exhaling slowly.
Tomorrow, he would go home.
But that didn’t mean he would forgive them.
And it certainly didn’t mean he would stop chasing what he truly wanted.
