Uzi was returning home after another (super annoying) day at school. Even thought she was still being mocked by her classmates, Lizzy was being surprisingly nicer to her and she could rely on Thad too, he and Lizzy proved very helpful various times. She hadn't seen her dad this morning, but he had left her a "note" saying he'd be back soon, he was just at another door conference.
"What an unhealthy obsession with doors this family has," she grumbled after locking her bedroom's door behind her. "Or at least, what's left of it." If Doll had managed to find and keep her parents' corpses in her room while she was still alive, Uzi had tried to look for her mother after the cathedral incident and all the horror that went with it; but Nori was nowhere to be found. N seemed extremely relieved to know that Uzi was alive, and V lived. She was still regenerating and healing, but she had made it. Somehow. The male disassembly drone lead them to the landing pod and gave both V and Uzi a lecture about risking their lives for more than an hour straight. V fell asleep after twenty minutes of N lecturing them but Uzi just kept on listening and assuring N that it was okay. That they were both alive. In the end, N blew out a long sigh and hugged both girls. When he finally let go of them, and V sat on one of the seats and started reading some JCJenson manual found in a drawer, N and Uzi's eyes locked. Their gazes were a mix of affection, untold confessions and probably a lot of additional lecturing from N. So many things they were longing to tell each other. And yet, perhaps what was stopping them was embarrassment from V hearing their convo. Or maybe all it took was courage neither of them could really muster. In the end, they both intensely blushed and went on teasing V. The female murder drone seemed extremely annoyed about it, but deep inside, she liked it pretty much.
Uzi snapped out of her memories and threw her pen in frustration. Now just wasn't the right time for homework. She went to the living room and turned the TV on. Some WDF worker was saying the latest news, dressed in their typical uniform. The number of kills had significantly decreased, with her friends only killing for survival. One to two drones per week, if anything. But the media only wants to dramatise everything so they purposedly increase numbers. The next topic was way more interesting, for it was talking about missing drones. And every time Uzi would ask V and N about it, they'd assure her it wasn't them. The workers on the photos she showed them definitely weren't the ones they'd killed anyways. Three drones disappeared that day and that didn't really make Uzi reassured. Perhaps it was J, Cyn maybe? No one knew, but either way there were no threats in the bunker and that allowed the remaining drones to feel a bit safer. Uzi fell asleep at some point when they started talking about doors.
"Wake up, Uzi! Rise an' shine!!" her dad's voice. The funniest thing about it was that it was the evening really. "Now give me the remote." His eyes definitely screamed "GET OFF THAT COUCH NOW!" despite the visibly fake-caring smile on his face. With a groan, Uzi rose and Khan immediately took place where his daughter was sitting. "What kind of father is that, " thought Uzi. "Had an intense conference about doors, I need to rest, okay? Love you Uzi," he distractedly said. Back to her room, the teenage drone slammed the door behind her, on the verge of tears, quickly fetched her (sick-as-hell) railgun, adjusted her beanie on her head and left, as discreet as a shadow.
