Chapter 13

On Friday he was anxiously waiting for Sam at the airport at the hour she had asked him to be. Eleven o'clock. But it was until almost three hours later that he saw her come out. But the cameras from a television news channel get them first and interview them.

Lou watched from far as there in front of the cameras someone from UNICEF gave Sam a diploma of recognition, then they interviewed just to her.

He felt as that time on her graduation while she gave her speech. Humble and nervous but sure about what she was talking. He feels proud of her beyond what he can explain himself.

After the cameras let them go, she with tired eyes (and a team of almost 15 people behind her carrying big cases with biological hazards signs.) she smiles big when she gets a glimpse of him and runs to hug him.

"So sorry I made you wait this long. To get the samples and hazard material through customs was a nightmare." She explains him but he just hug and smell and hold her tight makes him forget the pain on his feet for being standing waiting and the hungry.

"I'm starving Lou. And I need a shower... a long one... and to sleep for the next two days... and..." then his tummy makes funny sounds and she pulls from him, rises her eyebrows, smiles and finally, after wanting it for the past days; he feels her lips over his again. "Let's get this people take the samples to the lab yeah?" She doesn't wait for his answer and just pulls at his hand when she gives her team instructions and moves to the exit.

Once alone on the passenger seat while he drives "Where are we going to eat? I've been eating just packaged food, it was awful." She closes her eyes ready to sleep but open them suddenly. "Lou... you haven't spoken a word to me. Are you mad?"

"What? no love, no...is just... I dunno. I'm just happy you are finally here." He answers fast taking her hand and kissing it without taking his eyes from the road. "And to answer your question; I asked Merlo to make you lasagna and veggies and brownies and..."

He can't finish cause Sam is already celebrating "Yeeeeey!!! Thanks. You know me so well. A homemade meal is what I really want."

Once they arrive Sam runs, literally runs to the kitchen to say hi to Merlo (their house keeper) receiving a warm welcoming back while both serve the meal.

"There's tons of food Merloooo." Sam notices surprised that there is more than just lasagna and veggies; there's also meat and roasted chicken and green salad and mash potatoes and...

"Mr. Tomlinson asked to have enough and different in case you didn't like one or another. " She is left open mouth processing the information.

"You like it?" Asks Lou hugging her from behind once he gets in having had to get her bags inside.

"Yeah, but is a lot... I want to eat it all." Everyone laughs. "What are you going to eat?" she asks him turning around in his arms.

He gives her a chaste kiss on the lips and takes the plate she is holding for him "Let's each serve whatever we please yeah?"

And Sam does that exactly; while she leaves to take a seat and devour her food, Lou gets a little chat with Merlo in private.

"So, how were your days?" Sam asks as they have discussed all her activities in her past days.

"Just work Love, on Saturday the guys came, and then, more work. My parents say hi btw." At that Sam looks at him weird. It's not like she doesn't like them. Is just she hasn't been closer to his family. Have meet them a bunch of times but since she came back, she hasn't seen them. "I was staying at me parents these past days actually."

"Wow, has something happened?" That would explain why he has been kind of mysterious and quiet.

"No, all good." That sounds not convincing at all. "Is just... I've always done that. after you left... for uni... I spent time there to not to feel... lonely?"
