It was midnight, completely dark and I couldn't find my way through the building. Others were cheering partying because of the mission and they had full belief in our ability because we had trained for months and the nerves had dissipated from my mind. I reminded myself that the mission was the most important thing and that everything else was irrelevant tonight. If we succeeded in destroying the citadel that would allow us to gain access to Aliffiennome Airfield and as I reached into the bag that I had left by the hangar my other comrades smirked when they saw that I had come prepared with explosives. Along with us we had a Teuskerova which was a bomb with 250,000 tons of TNT as a distraction for the people on the ground, that was if they were awake. Though I highly doubt that they were and were probably all asleep, so the ride there was pretty smooth for the time being. We were lowered to the ground to wait for the signal to commit the ground assault while the others dropped the bombs to get their attention.
As we approached the citadel we debriefed the plan to the pilots and that they were not to leave even if enemy forces were to get in the air. It took the pilots a moment before they both shook their heads and agreeing to do it, and with that we were able to go on with it. All of us were shocked with how quick the flight was, we though that it would take at the vary minimum 4 hours to arrive there by helicopter but to our disbelief we got there within two hours. Because of this unintended turn of events allowed us to set up the explosives early and the extra weapons such as the Teuskerova weren't needed because the lights were completely dark leaving us with only ourselves outside. The C4 was placed in the more vulnerable places because of our drone scouting and detecting where it was most likely that the wall would fall down. I looked directly into Hanna and Charlie's eyes signaling them that this was the place of no return... There was no way for us four to call in the helicopter as it had already left when Charlie had realized that everyone was asleep and that using the bomb would only alert them that we were here.
" Ok so guys, we cannot return empty handed they are our target and we must succeed" I whispered into each of their intercoms.
" Great motivational speech I don't see how that's going to help motivate us." Ryan Gurgaskov sarcastically let his ideas go to everyone.
With his comment it didn't help the morale of Charlie and Hanna, I was going to absolutely yell at Ryan for this. Once the signal was cleared of anyone on the B Sector we detonated the bomb causing debris to be shot all around us and it caused a large gash on Charlie's arm though he did not feel like sharing it with the others, that really concerned about his safety considering the diseases that he could contract... Wait why was I thinking about anyone other than myself on a life or mission. When we reached the end of the B Sector immediately it became obvious to us that they had been watching us from the outside as Larkarev M 24's were stationed right in front of the two way turn that either led you down towards the hangar or the bunks, I was completely baffled by this and ran to the corner to escape the ammunition that came from the Larkarec M 24. The bullets were rapid fire the sounds echoing through the halls, I grabbed the remaining C4 that I had and did a yeet of luck down the hall before screaming fire in the hole! as a loud explosion shook the corridor and we began to continue moving through the A Sector undetected as the communication wires had been interfered with by Hanna who had knowingly and intelligently cut off the radio and main room's ability to communicate. This would lead them to go searching through the castle with nobody there to lead them towards the intruders. As my feet swiftly changed from a small walk to a now quick and upbeat run before a cold and familiar touch grabbed my hand and threw me into the wall. No it couldn't be, was it really her I hadn't seen her since 5th Grade and I was relieved and yet also intimidated by her eyes looking deep into mine.
" Sarah? Why are you destroying this place, also are you working with them just so that the government understands your message." Her face frowned when my mind couldn't comprehend the words for an answer. One thing led to another and my leg thrust into her chest causing her to bend over and her arms over her chest,
" Don't ever question me! Otherwise I will not have any problems removing you and everyone else here and moving them to Merskaerve Prison to break their backs for this military." A sly smirk tugged at the corners of my face as I grabbed her and thrust her into the ground and grabbed a Neukarev to threaten them and that if they didn't put their weapons away then I would have no problem using my weapon. She then punched me three times in the face before being tased by Hanna.
One rebel began screaming for mercy before he was gagged and had a mask put over his face completely leaving him in the dark and only able to hear our voices. The others began to worry and Charlie begged me to stop here, then I pointed the Neukarev at him to silence his opinion and rather that he should help get them out of here. He struggles to do this specific order angers me.
They were escorted to a truck where they were threatened with working in worse conditions than the rest of their family, One child was shoved with a spear with it's sharp edges gleaming in the dark moon when one man began to speak up. He looked like he was in his mid-20's and his eyes glimmered with evil visible. He then asked me if I would like to see a big " surprise" as sudden explosions rang through the air like gunshot bullets, I ducked for cover to hide from the debris while Luke Turkerove was hit with a stone that had come with the force of an airplane and struck him in the head. Blood spilled on that very stone and quickly it was easy to tell how he died. Another explosion took us by surprise and yet it struck Matthew "Spetter" Burganov. The man who had started this attack was able to escape from his confinement began running his feet never stopped for a single second.
" Help!" I cried into my radio " Spetter and Luke are dead we need to leave immediately."
" What about the prisoners? Did you put them in the vans because we aren't coming until we have confirmation that we have that problem under control." The pilot of the Helicopter responded.
" Yes! We have them, just please hurry. I don't think that we'll make it out of here" I pleaded with him to save us here or otherwise they would be losing a battalion and they would be held responsible for the deaths
Then the sound of whirring came within ear shot. I turned my head directly towards the direction I heard it and waved them down. This was a horrible execution of our plan, we had lost two of our soldiers whom didn't deserve such a gruesome death and I blamed the Interstellar's for this. For if they had surrendered then none of this would have happened. No deaths would have been recorded, but alas they had to fight for what they believed was the right thing which undoubtedly led to more damage then they thought would occur. The pilot asked us what had occurred that caused the death's but the words would not come out. I only waited to get back to my bunk did I cry tears of sadness, tears of questioning my morals. Had I really caused such an event, was my name going to be engraved with On April 9 she caused her fellow comrades Matthew Burganov and Luke Turkerove to die due to debris flying around that would strike them. That night felt long, my mind kept on playing what happened and it still felt all like a dream, a fantasy that I couldn't comprehend. I understood the feeling of grief I had felt that when I found my parents house was destroyed and uninhabited but this feeling I couldn't understand and it was hard to explain. The nightmare consumed my mind so badly that I walked my way to the mess room to clear my mind of these thoughts that lingered my mind. My lips were dry and face was covered in gray dust, I was desperate for something to refresh my dry lips. And with that I looked for water when another soldier asked me Hey, what happened? I didn't turn my head to look at his face too terrified that he would judge me for how dirty my face had become, but this only intrigued this person more you wouldn't happen to know where de havik is would you. I asked why he would wish to talk to her at such a late time and that she was currently sleeping. He persisted not wanting to give up.
Why do you respond so quickly are you trying to hide something from me?
"How about you shut up! And stop asking me these questions, return to your bunker please."
Alright sorry for making you so angry. But our great Dictator and the General would like to see you currently at this moment.
