It was still night and the moon was still shining beautiful as always. I reached the General's quarters where he was waiting for me. His face was an angry shade of red and he asked me to sit down in the chair across from where his desk was.
" Why did you allow those criminal's the time to let off the bomb? Wouldn't you have known better to quickly leave the premise." His voice rose to fill the room with his anger.
" Sir if I may, we had to make sure that they were assigned to the truck that corresponded with their age-" I was interrupted by General Ïvan Évorav before my sentence could be continued
" I do not care about that! I want to know why your incompetence caused these soldiers death's and you are the one to be blamed for this."
" General this situation was completely out of my control, we had no information about there being any bombs being hidden away, we assumed that this mission would be quite easy." I was truly telling him what I had believed hoping that he would side with me and believe the story.
" Though this may be true you are the commander in charge of this battalion and it is your duty and responsibility to do everything within your power to protect your fellow soldiers." He told me, I searched his eyes for anything more that he was hiding and the little bit of hope I had left had escaped from my mouth when the voice that had come over the radio was now inside the room I was.
"Waar is de commandant die ervoor zorgde dat deze twee soldaten waren gestorven! Ik wil haar onmiddellijk spreken"
" Ah, President Liam Westregen this young lady here is the person who has failed you and the rest of her comrades." My brain switched off mostly from fear of the repercussions.
"Deze jongedame vlak voor mij is dus de oorzaak van deze problemen"
"If I could sir could I recommend that we put her in the Beshterev region, it would be perfect to straighten her into the perfect soldier."
The room fell quiet as sweat began to fall from my head. They smirked happy that they had come up with a decision on how to deal with me. The President spoke ip voicing his opinion. " So it is decided she shall move bunks and work in Turo." They shooed me away asking me to leave so that they could talk about tactics. I didn't like the President and how he treated me for no exact reason but whenever I was needed he tried to manipulate me to get what he wanted. I bumped into Powalski who seemed to be overthinking something important. I asked what was plaguing his mind to the point where he wasn't paying attention to as where he was walking.
" It's nothing important just something to deal with my family. It doesn't concern you, though thank you for being so considerate" It was obvious that something was not okay and that he was trying to hide it deep inside his head.
" It is something that concerns me if it has to deal with family."
Powalski sped away before any other questions could be asked nor answered. That was something that I had not felt ever, that somebody would feel insecure about something that had to deal with immediate family. I followed after him trying to extract the answers I so desired to get and deserved. He was weeping holding a card close to his heart whispering words that could not be understood by my ears. I didn't want to disturb him during his time of grief so I felt that it was best in the opinion of me and for the best of Powalski to leave him alone.
I made my way to the bunk to announce that I wouldn't be able to work with them anymore under any circumstances, but if they wish to speak to me that they should come down to E Sector to rarely say hello if I was there. Hanna and Charlie hugged me wishing nothing but the best while fighting in Turo.
