**DISHAN'S POV**
It's 6 am now, and I wake up. I don't feel like sleeping more. The train is already 3 hours late.
I have some work to do today, but with the train running late, I think I'll only reach home in the evening.
I sit up and open my window. No one else has woken up yet. After about 5 minutes, the girl's mother wakes up and sits.
That girl is still sleeping, fully covered with her shawl. The tea seller arrives, and I take a cup of tea. The cup is very small, but do I have any other options?
Aunty also takes tea, and I start drinking. The taste is just... What to say... It's like drinking water mixed with some sugar and tea powder, with a little bit of milk.
I look outside the window. Around 7 am, a man selling upma arrives. I ask him for some upma. The girl has woken up, and her mother takes upma for her too.
I don't like upma, but I am hungry, so it's better to eat than starve until the afternoon. The taste of the upma is okay. I notice that the girl is holding her stomach but isn't eating.
After I finish eating, I decide to sleep for a while. But then the girl comes near me and asks if she can sit here, pointing to the seat opposite me. I nod, and she sits there.
She tries opening her window. After some effort, she opens it halfway, then tries again. So I ask if I can help. She nods yes, and I go towards her and try to open the window. It's jammed and not opening. I tell her it's jammed and if she wants to sit here in my seat. She nods no.
Then I suddenly ask her where she is traveling. She looks at me and then smiles.
Radhya: "I am going to Kasaragod (Kerala's first district). Where are you heading?"
Dishan: "Oh, I am going to Kannur, a stop ahead of yours. Do you stay there?"
Radhya: "No, we live in Mumbai. I am going to attend my sister's marriage. The marriage ceremony is finished, and now it's the reception. I think by the time we reach, the reception will be over."
Dishan: "Yes, this train is late. I hope it picks up speed."
Radhya: "This train should be renamed to 'Super Slow' instead of 'Super Fast.' It's very slow today."
I laugh at her reply, and she laughs too. I look at her face; she looks so innocent. Then we both stay quiet for a while. Her mobile rings, and she picks up the call with a smile. Who could it be? Someone special?
She is smiling and speaking with that person, and then she hands the phone to her mother. After her mother finishes the call, she takes her phone back and her mother speaks to her in another language. She comes back and sits on the seat.
Radhya: "It's raining in Kasaragod now. This is March, and it's raining there. My aunt informed me just now."
Dishan: "Oh, in Kerala, it's common for it to rain in March. Sometimes it rains in December and January too."
Radhya: "Yeah, Kerala's weather is unpredictable."
I nod at her and then look outside. It's raining, not heavily, just a few drops. Oh no, rain...
Radhya: "It's raining. See, little drops are falling."
Dishan: "I don't like rain. It's like water everywhere."
Radhya: "I love rain, especially getting drenched in the first rain. The smell of the earth's soil, the first drops falling on your skin... Everything seems so perfect. I wish time could stop at that moment."
Dishan: "Yes, I had that experience, but then everything changed, and I don't like rain anymore."
Radhya: "Maybe you have bad memories associated with rain. It's okay; everyone has different views and experiences."
I nod at her. I don't want to remember anything about the rain and her... Arpita. I have to move on and just forget everything and start a new life now.
This girl seems so lively, full of life, and here I am, sulking. I have to make a fresh start now.
Radhya: "It's amazing, right? I love trains because we get to talk with unknown strangers."
Dishan: "Yes, it's true, but that person must also be interested in having a conversation."
Radhya: "Like now, we are talking with each other without knowing each other's names. You know, I saw a video on Insta yesterday about two people meeting on a train. They talk, share things, and then when the train reaches their stops and they get down, they don't know each other's names."
Dishan: "Yes, that's true."
Radhya: "Do you stay in Mumbai?"
Dishan: "Yes, I came here for work and loved the city, so I decided to stay."
Radhya: "Oh, good to know."
She doesn't know about me, I think. She must not have seen my videos or heard about me. That's good.
Radhya: "You know, I feel like I've met you somewhere, but I don't know where and when."
Dishan: "Oh, I don't remember much. I usually travel a lot and meet lots of people."
Radhya: "I also love traveling a lot, but I haven't traveled much."
Dishan: "Why?"
Radhya: "I have responsibilities to manage, and besides, I don't get permission to travel."
This young girl managing responsibilities... Great.
Dishan: "Oh, I travel solo, and in groups, too. It's interesting. But often, friends cancel their trips, and I am left alone to travel. It would be better if I had a companion to travel with."
Radhya: "Oh, I love traveling. Whether alone or in groups, it doesn't matter to me. But now it's not possible. But sure, one day I will travel."
Dishan: "Maybe after your marriage, you can travel with your husband."
She smiles and then...
