12.Sophie

One month Later...

I'm holding Jason's hand in one hand and the groceries in the other.." Are you excited to start school on Monday?" he nods his head " I'm going to be the only human tho... "I frown, hearing him express his worry.. " Well, that only means that all the kids will want to be your friend... they'll be fighting over who gets to sit with you at lunch." that causes him to look up and smile at me... " Are we going to Lizzy's party?" " We are! You just have to help me bake her a cake first; think you can do that?" Jason nods again..

"We can help you too Sweet stuff" I gasp, hearing the sound of a male's voice behind me... even tho they are still far enough away, i can still see the green in their eyes.... Snakes... I grab Jason picking him up and start to Run as quick as my legs can carry me... " where are you going gorgeous! We only want to help you!" I can hear the sounds of their steps getting closer.... I turn and dart towards a dark Alley, hoping to cut them off, but it only leads to a dead end.... I drop Jason and place him behind me shielding his body with mine... The two men are laughing as they slowly approach us... " Why did you run beautiful? " the fat ugly one croaks...his skin glistening from the sweat. Guess he's not used to any physical activity " stay away from us please, please don't come any closer..."

... " Aww you're hurting our feelings... that's not Nice.... Now we have to kill you" the slender one that looks like he had oil for hair raises his arm up and points what looks like the opposite end of a gun barrel towards us. I gasp and lower my body, crouching over Jason, doing everything I can to just shield him from the two men... his crying fills my heart with pain and all I can do is hug him " it's gonna be okay" I repeat over and over to him... "Hey, what the fuck! Who the fuck are you!?..".

The piercing echo of the gun rings twice, the sound bouncing off the walls of the alley. I brace and squeeze Jason tighter... waiting to feel some type of stinging or burning pain...but the pain never comes; I pull away slowly and carefully but quickly look Jason over " are you hurt?" he shakes his head, still crying... I turn around to see a dark figure in a hoodie standing at the end of the Alleyway... the two snakes lay down lifeless in front of us... both with a single gunshot wound to the back of their heads... " Close your eyes and don't open until I tell you too got it?" Jason nods and I pick him up walking back towards the dark figure... before I make it out the man had already gone... completely vanished.... I quickly carry Jason back home, where I call Castor to tell him what happened.

He's home in under five minutes before I can even hang the phone up and run towards Jason and me on the couch... " are you both okay? Are you hurt?" he's on his knees. I shake my head.... " Yes, we are fine, no, we are not hurt.... I don't know... I don't know how but... someone saved us.. I couldn't see who it was; he was in a black hoodie.. But he saved us..."

" He was a snake" Jason looks up at Castor... " I know they were snakes, buddy I told you snakes are bad people" Castor moves to pick jason up, holding him safely in his arms... " no! The man in the black hoodie... I saw his eyes.. He was a snake!" his words take both Castor and I by surprise.

" was it you?" Castor shakes his head... " I wish it was... I would have done worse things to them than just one bullet... " he mumbles... " I've not heard of another Snake who was like me though it doesn't make sense... '''' He was a snake Castor I swear, I promise!" Jason argues... "Okay, okay, we believe you bug, I promise" Sophie reaches over, rubbing her hand assuringly over Jason's arm.... " Well, I'll have to thank that man for saving my family."

"Sophie, can we make Lizzy's cake now?" Castor shakes his head.... " I don't know about going to the party tonight... someone just tried to hurt the both of you" Sophie's soft lips spread into a soft, warm smile... " and you were here within minutes... we are fine... we are going to that party, We have already spent too much of our life being afraid" I place my hand on castors, trying to calm him down... " Fine.." castor finally reluctantly agrees

Jason slides off the couch, grabs the grocery bag, knocks my purse and spills all of the contents out onto the floor, including the pregnancy test I had taken earlier today.... Castor's eyes instantly locked on to the little white stick with a positive little pink sign, then back towards me...

" oops" Jason giggles as he looks up at me. "Sorry, Sophie" I shake my head, smiling... "it's okay little bug, it was an accident" ...

" Are you?" Castor turns quizzing me about the little white positive pregnancy test.... I nod " I wanted to tell you once I went to a doctor to confirm it" I smile up at him. Castor falls to his knees, placing his hands on my stomach" We're having a baby?" This is the first time Castor resembled that of an excited little boy and I couldn't help but smile at the soft emotion... " Sophie's going to have a baby?" Jason walks up to Castor and looks down at my stomach.. " I am bug.." I wipe away tears that started to fall from my eyes.. " I love you so much Sophie" Castor pulls me into his arms, planting his lips onto mine..." And you Big man!" he adds, pulling Jason into his lap... And you, little one" his fingers brush against my stomach...Honestly not sure how life could get any more perfect than it is right now. I brush my fingers through Jason's hair and lean into castor.
