Elias Artino: Chapter 19"W-what?" the word escaped from my mouth.
Kaiden's mom stared me dead and the eye, making a strange face. "You.. why are you here?!" she shouted. She leaned forward and grabbed Kaiden's wrist, yanking him towards her. "Get out of my house this very instance!"
"Mom, what are you doing?!" Kaiden asked, yanking his arm away from her.
"Do you know how much of a danger that boy is to you?" Kaiden's mother shouted. "Уберите его из моего дома!" she added on in Russian. I wasn't sure what she said, but it probably wasn't anything good judging from her tone and the way she spat it. Her voice was almost as harsh as my mother's.
"Успокойся, мама." Kaiden said calmly. "He's just here to hangout."
"Exactly. He can't be here!"
I had already shrunk into myself, feeling my lips pull down. What did I do wrong? Was she going to hit me? She surely didn't seem happy with my presence and every single time she glanced over, her face had a deep frown.
I tugged at the sleeves of my hoodie and pulled them over my hands. I listened as they argued in a language I couldn't understand. They weren't speaking in English and I just couldn't keep up. The only clues I got were from facial expressions and their tones. Of course, I could only read Auntie Mary. Kaiden didn't seem angry or anything.. atleast from what he showed on his face. I could tell he was defending me because he stood in front and was standing his ground.
"Нахождение рядом с ним ухудшит ваше здоровье!" Kaiden's mother shouted. She glanced at me and gave me a pained look.
"Зачем ему ухудшать мое здоровье?" Kaiden said.. or asked. I couldn't tell.
"Вам не нужно знать!" Auntie Mary exclaimed, "просто послушай мои слова, сынок!"
I heard an angry sigh erupt from Kaiden. He brushed a hand through his hair and shook his head. "Mama, I already know." he said. "Were you going to leave him in pain for the rest of his life for the sake of my "health?""
"What.. how do you.." she trailed off.
What was going on? Were they talking about me or someone who I know nothing about?
I got the answer when Auntie Mary nervously glanced at me once again.
"You told him?" she asked.
