Several guards filled the cafeteria as they escorted kids out to their bunks. Cara walked alongside Newt and Frypan and two guards led them to their bunk. They stopped when the hallway split.

"Cara follow me this way," One of the guards said as he made his way to the right of the hallway. Newt gave her a kiss on the cheek and waved her off as she followed the guard. They stopped in front of a steel door with a small window on it. The guard opened the door and gestured for Cara to walk in. She walked in and stopped in the door frame, turning to the guard.

"Where's Teresa?" She asked the guard.

"She is just running a few more tests."

"When will she be done?"

"You won't be waiting for long," The guard then shut the door pushing Cara in. She heard his loud footsteps as they walked away.

The room was dimly lit and there were two bunks on the left of the room and a bathroom in the corner. Each bed had a lamp at the foot of it and a crate at the top of the bed, there were also pipes and vents which covered the ceilings. Cara climbed to the top bunk and laid down on the bed, it was soft and comfortable. Well, anything is better than sleeping in a hammock for 3 years. It felt good to have a proper bed, a proper room. She laid there staring at the dusty ceiling, she put her arms up and saw some dried blood on her palms, probably from the boy she hit. Cara jumped down from the bunk and washed her hands under the icy water. She dried them with a hand towel and looked at herself in the mirror. The mirror was not cracked and it didn't have moss growing on the corners, it was crystal clear and reflected Cara's face perfectly. She stood there inspecting every inch of her face, there were so many things she didn't notice until now, like how she has dimples only on her right cheek, she had a small mole next to her eye and she had light freckles across her nose and cheeks. Eventually Cara climbed back into her bed falling asleep.

The next morning Cara woke up to a knock on the door, she rubbed her eyes sitting up on the bed, it took her a moment to remember where she was.

"Breakfast is in 20 minutes," Someone said from outside.

Cara fell back on the bed sighing, then she remembered Teresa. She poked her head over the edge of her bed looking at the bunk under her, no one. Teresa didn't come last night. She would have heard it. Cara got up, brushed her teeth and washed her face. She put on black cargo pants, a white shirt and her black boots. When she was brushing her hair the door opened again.

"20 minutes are up. Come on," She put down the brush and followed the guard to the cafeteria.

Cara got some eggs and a slice of bread before sitting down at the same table from last night next to Newt.

"Good morning, your hair looks good today," He said as he ran his fingers through her hair.

Cara completely forgot to put her hair up, "Oh I forgot to tie it," She grabbed her hair pulling it up and took the elastic off her wrist, as she was joining to tie it Newt put her hands down letting her hair fall onto her shoulders, "Keep it down, I like it." A small smile grew on the girl's lips and she blushed. She put the elastic back around her wrist and started to eat her food as the others sat down with their food.

"Hey Cara, did Teresa come?" Thomas asked as he drank some orange juice.

"Uhh, no the guard said she was supposed to come though. Sorry Thomas."

"It's alright," Thomas said, defeated as he slumped back into his chair.

They all finished eating their food when Janson came in causing everyone to stop talking. He stood at the front and opened his clipboard reading names out. "Alice. Barry. Walt. Edgar. Samantha. Aaron."
