The next morning they packed up their things and continued to walk through the blazing hot desert. They walked all day towards those shucking mountains, taking small breaks in between to collect themselves. They didn't know where they were, they were probably walking though what used to be the bottom of an ocean, but now it's just dried up dirt and sand. They were all out of water and they got thirsty pretty quickly as they were talking directly under the sun. Cara put her scarf over her head to try and get some shade, she constantly felt beads of sweat roll down her face and back. Her scarf flew in the hot wind and sand particles hit her. She felt her face heating up and her eyes started to water. Cara wiped her eyes with her sandy hands and continued to walk. If this was all for nothing Cara was going to kill Thomas.

The sun had finally started to set and there was a light breeze of cold wind around them. They were all alone in the Scorch, nothing around them for miles. Everyone was too exhausted to find some shade so they slept in the middle of nowhere. Everyone quickly drifted asleep but Cara laid on the cracked ground wide awake, looking at the stars. She tossed around the hard ground trying to fall asleep but then admitted defeat staring at the stars once again.

She gazed upon the night sky for a while before she felt someone lie down next to her. Cara turned to her right and saw Newt's tired face looking at the sky, his eyes glimmered as they reflected the shining stars.

"Wonder what it's like to be up there, so close to a star," Newt whispered as his eyes explored different parts of the sky. "Hell our star is trying to cook us alive," He turned to face Cara and stared at her drowsy face, he placed a small kiss on her forehead and held her hand.

Cara turned to look back at the stars, "Do you think we're gonna find the right arm?"

"It's the only hope we have for getting away from WICKED," He answered.

"We're going to make it. Together." Newt reassured her. Cara turned to her side and placed a hand on Newt's chest as her eyes finally decided to sleep.

Cara woke up again but she wasn't in the scorch, she was inside a room, standing in front of a computer screen. Another dream? The room was covered in electrical devices, wires and there was a large door at the end of the room where two guards stood in front of. Cara looked around the room and spotted her younger self sitting at a square table with a computer in front of her and opposite her was a woman holding a screen.

"You have 10 minutes left," The woman told younger Cara as she was focused on the computer in front of her.

Cara walked over to her younger self examining the computer, there were a bunch of numbers and questions on the screen. Was she taking a test? Cara watched herself answer the questions quickly.

"Times up," Cara closed the lid of the computer and looked up at the woman. The woman tapped her screen with a white pen before turning it around onto the table so younger Cara could read what was on it.
