Frazier's P.O.V

It had been three weeks since the weekend at the country club and we haven't even looked at each other since then. Elaine had been giving me death glares for the past week because she knew things had taken a new turn.

I am on my way to homeroom when Elaine stops me in the hallway.

"Fraz, I didn't know this was how it was going to be with you two"

"Elaine"

"Don't stay away from her, I don't know what it is but she seems to be hurt that you two aren't talking anymore"

"You know Landon would never let her be with me"

"What if it's the opposite? He knows you and he would rather she be with someone he knows"

"Elaine, I'm not going to go behind one of my closest friend's backs to date his sister especially when I never said I liked her"

"But you like her?" I pursed my lips at that and kept silent, Elaine walked past me. It had been just over two months since we had met, wasn't it too soon to tell?

I walk to our homeroom and collapse into my seat, I was done with the day and it hadn't even started.

Laila is seriously messing with my head and no girl has successfully done that to me before but this girl who I haven't even had a decent conversation with has me in shambles. I felt that spark between us at the country club, I could tell she felt it as well which was why she said I was right.

Rather than showing up in front of her, I look out for her during the day just to get a tiny glimpse of her. I got the feeling that she looked for me as well she looked for me at the start of the week, Elaine had told me.

It doesn't seem like she found me.

I know it's a big thing to be attracted to my mentor's sister and Landon will kill me if he finds out so I'm trying my best to stay away now but it's getting so hard.

I, however, encounter her in the library. I reluctantly sat next to her, she looks up at me and leans back in her chair.

"Frazier Adams" She had said

"Laila"

"Let's try this again. My name is Frazier, I'm the junior year vice president. Nice to meet you"

"I'm Laila, the freshman year president. Nice to meet you" Laila smiles and extends a hand to me, we shake hands. The air around us becomes charged the moment our hands touch.

"I've not seen you at the Acting Student Council meetings yet"

"I've been in guidance and counseling instead, there's a bit of an issue I have"

"I'm looking forward to seeing you at the meetings then" I smile and Laila smiles right back at me.

"This is the most I've ever seen you smile at someone you don't know"

"Have you been stalking me, Frazier?"

"Yes" I reply with a serious look on his face before smiling and we both burst into quiet laughter.

We spend the rest of that period talking well into lunch. We walk out of the library eventually and towards the field.

I offer her my arm halfway, Laila distractedly takes it as we laugh together while walking. We strolled casually through the field while talking about school and our classes. People weren't paying attention to us because it wasn't unusual to see Laila on the field with a friend more so I am Landon's friend at least some people knew that, others looked away as it was me and I didn't like people minding my business for me.
