When Happiness Is Eliminated

Chapter 3- I'd never hurt her! Not Ava...

*Ava POV*

Now, not only am I mad about the fact that we still aren't in the mall, but I'm so pissed at Chloe! She lied to me. And she's not even a good liar... how could I fall for it?!
She told me that her mom was on an important phone call, and as soon as she finishes, we'd be moving and going to the mall, but of course that wasn't the case! How could have I not known???

Her mom's car broke down and they don't know what happened. But thank god, after the most depressing thing we've heard all day, a guy in a truck came and we all looked up, hoping that the car is fixed. He had the biggest tool box I've ever seen. My dad has a tool box, whenever something in the kitchen breaks, or if the pipes decide to leak, it's really cool watching him fix everything, he's like the handy man in our house.

In a matter of 2 minutes, the car begins to work. I don't get all jolly and excited even though everybody else does, because it's happened once in which I immediately regain my enthusiasm, just like the girls are doing right now, and then something goes wrong. I don't want anything bad to happen right now.

*Chloe POV*

Apparently the problem in the car wasn't such a big of a deal. The guy came, fixed the car, in like literally 2 minutes, asked my mom to pay and then just left. Finally we're all happy again, everybody's super excited and my mom just left the school parking. But of course, there has to be a problem, this time there's no problem with transportation or any sort of vehicle, it's just that Ava doesn't seem too happy. She doesn't look sad, but she doesn't look happy either. I expected Ava to be the happiest one of us all. Is it because I lied to her? Nah, I doubt it... 

*Courtney POV*

Yay!!!!!! Omg, I'm so happy right now. All of us are! This is like the best thing ever. We've all been to the mall together, this obviously isn't the first time. It's just that it's the first time with the whole crew, like EVERY one, even Ava, who's usually the one that doesn't show up because of her parent's rule or something, I don't know.

But the person who I suspected would be the happiest, seems the saddest. Ava (obviously) should be the happiest person right now. We're all laughing and cheering and just having the time of our life in the car, but for some reason, Ava's just looking out the window! Strange... 

"Ava! OMG what's wrong! Did something happen?!?! Did someone die??? Ava talk to me!!!" You can tell that was Cathy, the drama-queen. She turns the smallest things to the biggest problem, I don't even know. Did someone die??? Really?

Wait... what if someone died?! Ok this is getting serious. I thought maybe she was just sad that we aren't in the mall already, or that we're running out of time, or even (which I doubt) that she's worried that her parents tell her off if they find out. The worst part is that she didn't even answer Cathy!

"OMG! Somebody call the ambulance! I think she's in a coma!!!" Cathy immediately screams. Coma? Really?! She's well and alive Cathy. "Do you even know what a coma is?!" Cara asks. "No, but I heard of it, and it seems like something bad... I think?" Cathy replies. Wow, well done Cathy...

But seriously, what's wrong with Ava? She's not even responding to our questions or even joining the what-turned-into a conversation. Again, strange... 

*Ava POV*

A coma? Really Cathy? They're all having a conversation about what they should do. I just wanna ignore them, hoping that we reach the mall. I'm not feeling too well, I don't wanna look back, looking outside is already making me dizzy, and I'm not too good with cars and buses, especially buses, but car's are quite bad. Pretend you can't hear them Ava, pretend you can't hear them... 

Chloe looks at me from the mirror again, I give her a little smile, just to assure her that I'm ok, hoping that she'd tell everyone else that there's nothing wrong. "What's wrong?" She whispers. I think out of everyone, I could possibly be the closest to Chloe. She really understands me, and we'd never do anything to hurt each other, which brings me to my next point... she lied to me!

"Why'd u lie to me?" I ask her, whispering obviously.

*Chloe POV*

Oh no. Ava asked why I lied to her. I explained to her the first time, I technically didn't lie. Is that why she's so sad? Because I lied to her? I'd never do anything to hurt her. Not Ava!

"I didn't mean it, I promise. It's just that I was too afraid to tell you the truth, that you'd be disappointed in me or something. I would've told you the truth, but you know me Ava. I would never hurt you!" I tell her, when all-of-a-sudden, the car decided to go silent, and everybody heard every word I said. Now they're all gonna stay silent and Ava won't be able to respond to me unless they all become loud again.

I see they're eyes all grow wide and open, and they're ears listening nice and clear. "Mom" I whisper to her while slightly nudging her, just so that she can get my attention. "Yea" she whispers back. "Say something, bring up a topic real quick, please. Something that'll get them talking..." I tell her. 

"Hey girls! So what are you gonna do at the mall? Gonna watch a movie. I heard some really good movies came out, maybe you wanna think about that" She says. Yes! "Thank you so much mom" I tell her, not needing to whisper anymore because the car just became the loudest place on Earth, a bit too loud to the point that I'm not sure if I'll be able to hear Ava.

She looks at me and winks. There's the old Ava I was waiting for! "Ok, thank you!" She says with a nice grin on her face. I just love that girl! 

Finally, the moment we've all been waiting for, as we leave the car, say good bye to my mom and enter the mall...
