*Chloe POV*

"Seriously?! Not again!" I moan. We all entered the car and this is the last thing we want at-the-moment. My mom's car isn't working, the engine isn't turning on, something probably happened to the car! How am I supposed to tell the girls?! We need to fix this car as soon as possible, and before any of the girls notice that we're not moving. Thank god they're all busy gossiping with each other, but I kinda feel bad for them.

First, Cathy's brother can't take us, and now, when we all finally regained our enthusiasm, my mom's car decides to break down! Why now???

"Mom. How are we gonna fix this problem?!" I quickly whisper to her. "I don't know darling, seems like the car broke" She replies. "Nooooo. I didn't realize. Mom seriously! We can't have another problem. First Cathy's brother couldn't take us, and now your car decides to break down??? What next?" I then get really frustrated and bang window and look away. I guess I was a bit too loud, because Ava noticed that we didn't move when I looked at her through the rear-view mirror.

"Chloe? Is everything alright?" She asks.

*Ava POV*

Ok. I'm assuming something happened with Chloe and her mom. Chloe used to always tell us that her parents were the best and they'd do anything to make her happy and they let her do anything she wants (something I wish my parents would do), but I hear her quietly shouting (if that makes sense) to her mom, as if something happened between them. Then all of a sudden, Chloe bangs her hand on the window and just looks outside, she looks really frustrated. I think she noticed me watching them, because she looked through the mirror, and saw me. I quickly asked if everything was ok, and she didn't say a word.

I'm not sure if something happened between THEM or if something happened to the CAR, but both ways, we're not actually moving and I'd really like us to get the mall as quick as possible. I try to think of something to do, I don't know if I'm meant to sort the problem out or just stay away from it, because I doubt I was even meant to hear anything happen. I decide to stay out, and just look outside the window hoping that the thing between Chloe and her mom resolves!

*Chloe POV*

Yep. Ava definitely saw what happened. I just decided to ignore her question, but I'm sure the other girls will also notice. It's been exactly 7 minutes, and my mom's on the phone trying to get someone to come fix the car. Wow, the girls must be really busy with their conversation. I see Ava looking out the window, it looks like something happened. "Ava, you ok?" I ask, and she just nods, then looks at me saying "what's going on? Why haven't we moved yet?". This is where it gets tricky. I don't exactly know how to tell them, or even just Ava. She was the most excited to go to the mall. We've all been there together, just without Ava because her parents never allowed her. Apparently, her parents have a rule about "family before friends" or something? I never really understood that rule, but she didn't really bother explaining it because she said that she barely understands it either, and just generally hates it.

"My mom's just on an important phone call and doesn't want to move the car until she ends the call. I'm not really sure" I quickly respond. I know it's a lie, but I'm hoping she believes it and nobody asks afterwards, I need my mom to fix the car before anyone else notices. I'm not that good at telling a lie, to be honest. I was surprised Ava believed it but thank god she did.

*Ava POV*

So everything is alright according to what Chloe was telling me. Her mom's just on an important phone call, there's nothing big to it. But as soon as she ends the call, we're out of here and I'm more excited than ever! I just continue talking to the girls like I was before, and try tell myself that everything's going to be alright. For some reason, I feel like something's gonna go terribly wrong again.

"Chloe, why aren't we moving now? You're mom ended the call, didn't she?" I say as I realize that her mom just put the phone down and banged her head at the steering wheel. I guess it wasn't the right time to ask honestly, but I'm desperate. The other girls heard me asking Chloe this time, and oh boy, it didn't end well!

"WE HAVEN'T MOVED YET!??!" Typical Cathy would say, obviously over-exaggerating it a bit more than she should've. Then the whole crew began to chatter and talk and I had no clue what anyone was saying. "STOP!" Chloe screamt with frustration. "Just listen, and stop!" Ok, I have a feeling that the "important phone call" her mom was having wasn't the reason why we weren't moving.

"Can you explain why we're not moving then, Chloe?" Courtney says, with a bit of an attitude, I would say...

*Chloe POV*

Really Ava? Did you have to ask again?! Everybody just kept screaming and shouting after they heard Ava ask why we weren't moving. I guess they realized that it's been 20 minutes and we're in the exact same position. Ugh... I wish I didn't call my mom to come and pick us up! None of this would've happened and we would've all just went back home, with no troubles whatsoever. But noooo, I had to call my mom and make everyone feel so happy and enthusiastic again, then come to the point where it all goes wrong AGAIN and I just disappoint them all. I just wanna hide underneath my chair and not have to deal with anything or anybody, I've never felt so terrible in my life. This isn't gonna end well!

I immediately scream at them and tell them to just stop and then Courtney comes in with an attitude asking why we haven't moved yet. Here comes the moment, the moment of truth where I just tell them what has happened. My mom looks at me, a kinda look that tells me that I just have to tell them because she doesn't think this car is gonna get fixed anytime soon for sure. Then I look back at them, and I see Ava looking really confused. I don't mind telling them, this isn't the first time I disappointed them, it's just that I told Ava something completely different, and I'm sure this is the last thing she wants to hear.

What am I gonna tell them?! What am I supposed to say? Then all-of-a-sudden, I hear my mom: "Girls, for some reason, the car isn't really working and I'm trying to get someone to come and fix it, but I don't think that's gonna happen sometime very soon. I'm really sorry you have to hear this right now."
"But Chloe, you told me that she was just on an important phone call, and we'd start moving right away!" Ava dramatically says.
"Well, I didn't really lie. She was on an important phone call, she was calling for someone to come and fix the car, but we may start moving way later than I told you we would. I'm sorry." I reply.
I look away, I look to the front of the car and just stay like that. Nobody's talking, it's dead-silent right now, great. Just what I hoped wouldn't happen came true. I just ruined everybody's mood and messed this all up for everyone, not just Ava.

I turn to look back again, and everybody looks bummed and disappointed. "I'm sorry guys..." I say. Nobody answers, nobody even looks back at me. I doubt anybody even heard me to be honest. I know my mom did, she just looked at me, and patted me in the shoulder. "It's not your fault honey, it's mine." She sighs.

"Beep Beep" We hear a truck behind us, and I look at the mirror, then see a man coming out of it with a big tool box. "Is this the guy you called to fix our car?!" I hurrily ask my mom. Everybody looks up, their eyes filled with delight, hoping if this car will be fixed, soon. I hope it does... I really do!

Ok guys. So this is my second chapter. Like I said, I'll be updating quite quickly. Not necessarily a chapter a day, but that's more or less how it's gonna go. Hope you like it! xx

Like I mentioned before, this book wouldn't have happened without the help of my best friends. They were the ones there who gave me the idea and inspiration of writing this book, and they've been supporting me and reminding me about it ever since I agreed to it. So please go check them out, it would mean a lot! ShammaYounus and Habibae, they both have great books so go ahead and read them.

Also, stay updated with this story.
