The Silent Knight

"You must catch one of us Maddox." A young Rose Stark says slowly before grabbing Marisia's hand and running away.

I watch as my two best friends run off and break apart into two separate directions. With a smirk on my face, I push the small strands of my brown hair back and run in the direction of the princess.

Peace had remained still within the seven kingdoms since the reign of Daenerys Targaryen. House Stark and the Targaryens have made their amends during her reign and continue to be one of each others greatest allies.

House Knight was created 50 years after the reign of Daenerys. Thus to ensure a bloodline of knights protect Targaryen princesses until their reign on the Iron Throne. Targaryens, man or woman, will forever take place on the Iron Throne, ruling and maintaining safety amongst the seven kingdoms.

My mother died in childbirth to my brother which leaves only me to extend the Knight name unless my father marries another which he refuses to do. The only issue is, I am solely attracted to women.

I was born differently than most girls with more masculine features and being that I am the only heir to House Knight I have been training since a child to be Marisia's knight of protection. I am as strong as my father was as a teen and look almost identical to him as he was at my age. With short brown hair and the body built of a knight.

My father doesn't mind this though, he believes a child will carry the Knight name no matter which bloodline runs through their veins. So once the times comes I will have a child not of our blood, a child who I will take under my wing to carry on the Knight legacy.

"It is quite dangerous for you to be up there your grace." I smile up at Marisia who is sitting on a branch above her favorite tree in the garden.

"You'll just have to catch me then." She smiles down at me getting herself ready to fall.

"Always princess." I say, staring at the girl who is not only to be named Queen after her father's death but a girl I love dearly.

She falls elegantly as I catch her softly and stare intently in her eyes.

"Your father would be quite angry with your antics, you know he has forbidden you to climb this tree before." I say staring into her beautiful blue eyes.

"He knows not to worry with you by my side at all times." She says ruffling my brown hair while smiling.

"When will you ever come after me Maddox." Rose states, interrupting our longing gaze.

"You know my duties Rose." I say with a smirk setting the princess down softly.

"Duties, duties." Rose states while rolling her eyes.

"Last one to the main gate has to sleep with the pigs tonight!" Rose yells as she begins to take off to the main gate.

The princess giggles by my side as we run after her. I pick Rose up and lift her over my shoulder.

"Put me down Knight!" She screams while laughing hitting my back.

"Don't you want to win Stark." I exclaim while the princess skips behind us.

Three best friends, inseparable since birth. Who would have thought love would cause such a divide?
