Chapter 37 - The Aftermath
Aline stood panting, her sword still trembling with the force of the final blow. Arachne lay at her feet, her eyes closed, her sword slipping from her grasp.
Aline's mind raced with emotions, grief and sadness warring with relief and triumph. She had saved the kingdom, but at what cost?
As she looked down at Arachne's still form, she saw a glimmer of Ariana's soul, trapped beneath the surface. Aline reached out, her heart filled with compassion.
"Ariana, I'm here," she whispered. "I'm here for you."
And with that, Arachne's body began to glow, the malevolent force that had consumed her slowly dissipating. Ariana's soul began to emerge, free at last.
Aline smiled, tears of joy streaming down her face. She had saved her soul sister, and the kingdom. The battle was finally over.
