chapter twenty-nine
l e a d o nThe ten days went by faster than Jaxon Armani's speed. It was officially the day of the Provisional License Exam and a lot of them were beyond nervous.
"Eraser, is that you?! I know that scowl anywhere!" The entire class plus their teacher turned to the unknown voice, a woman with an orange bandana wrapped around her head waving towards 1-A's homeroom teacher. None of the 1-A students missed Aizawa's shiver and his terrified expression as the hero grew closer.
"It's Ms. Joke!" Midoriya screeched excitedly from beside Arisa.
"Let's get married!" She smiled brightly, her hand on Aizawa's shoulder.
"He can't!" Arisa and her big group of friends shouted simultaneously— Denki, Mina, and Ochaco slightly glaring at the Smile Hero with a pout on their face.
"No." Aizawa had replied dryly along with his students. His eyes slightly widening as he turned to face his problem children who were still too busy glaring daggers at the hero in front of him. "What?"
"Respectfully ma'am," Denki cleared his throat. "He's taken."
"I am?"
"He is?"
The two pro heroes spoke up, both honestly confused. Aizawa, simply because he didn't know what the hell they were talking about (he did but refused to believe it)— and Ms. Joke just couldn't believe the Eraserhead was in an actual relationship.
As of cue, the cheerful white-haired pro happily skipped towards her sister's class, "Hola!" She wrapped an arm to the closest person, who happened to be a very much annoyed Bakugo.
"Get your hands off me." Bakugo growled annoyingly.
"Woah, woke up on the wrong side of the bed?" Yesi tsked with a fake grimace.
"What are you doing here?" Aizawa asked with a raised brow, completely ignoring the side eye Ms. Joke was sending him.
Yesi grinned as her attention drifted towards the tired-looking pro, "Hey Zawa!" She grinned as she excitedly waved, growing closer towards the two pros— oblivious to the other's presence. "It's been a while!"
"Not really," said Aizawa. "How're you holding up?"
Yesi grinned, "Great! Thanks for asking. Today's my last day off which means—"
Aizawa nodded, "You'll be part of the Work Studies?"
Class 1-A and Ms. Joke only listened to their conversation, all surprised that the underground hero was more than willing to keep a conversation going.
"Oh, hi!" Yesi finally noticed the Smile Hero. "I'm Lluvia, nice to meet ya!"
"Yeah...kinda know who you are. You've been in the news quite a bit with your family." said-hero awkwardly laughed before introducing herself. "I'm Ms. Joke."
"Hi! We're Mr. Aizawa's favorite class!" Arisa finally spoke up cheerfully. Ms. Joke only eyed her from head to toe before softly smiling and turning to Aizawa, "You're really gonna have your first-years participate?"
"Yes. There a problem?" He said. "My kids are more than capable of beating yours if that's what you're implying."
"He called us his kids." Denki dramatically wiped away a tear.
"Now all of you head inside." Aizawa turned to glare at Bakugo, who seemed too busy glaring at one of Ketsubutsu's third-years. "And play nice."
"What's his deal?" Yesi whispered towards her sister. "Wasn't that guy being nice earlier?"
Arisa shrugged, "I dunno, I was too busy being a chismosa over here to know what was going on with them." Arisa grinned mischievously, before turning to face her teacher. "Mr. Aizawa, Yesi says she doesn't know this place at all. She's wondering if she can follow you around? That's okay, right?"
Aizawa didn't seem to notice what the bluenette was doing or he simply didn't care. He only shrugged, "Sure, whatever." and began walking towards the entrance.
Yesi started wide eyed and mouth gaping at Arisa, "you little—"
"It's an opportunity for you, big sis!" Arisa quickly cut her off with a smirk. "Better run before Ms. Joke steals him away. Girl was quick to propose as soon as she saw him."
The rain hero dramatically gasped, and was quick to run after Aizawa and her competition, "not while I'm around!"
"For someone that was in a two week coma, she grew stronger in less than a week." The underground hero commented, watching as his student created what seemed to be a swirling vortex, easily knocking down the big group that was about to gang up on her. "And just like that—" He slightly smirked, eyes turning towards Joke. "Five of your students are out."
"I hate to brag," Yesi made her way between the seats, a big bowl of popcorn on one hand while she carried drinks in the other. "But I helped her with that move. She still hasn't learned to fully control it, but she definitely knows how to hold back her power." She made herself comfortable in between the two, turning to Joke with a grin. "Popcorn?"
"Sure! Thanks!" Ms. Joke returned the grin, accepting the drink as she stuffed her face with the buttery snack.
Yesi then turned to Aizawa, "You don't seem like the type that likes popcorn."
"I don't." He replied.
Yesi pouted, "Okay..." she slowly munched on her popcorn, a tiny smile forming when Aizawa sighed and stole some of her popcorn. "If you want to share, just say that." Aizawa muttered.
"So since when have you two been dating?"
It was a question that had Yesi red in an instant and Aizawa choking on the popcorn.
Ms. Joke tilted her head in confusion, "What's up? Did I say something wrong?"
"That's none of your business." Aizawa simply stated, avoiding complete eye contact. "Now watch your kids."
They both did as told, not once drifting their attention away from the fighting heroes in training. Yesi glanced at Eraserhead, surprised to see a hint of pride in his eyes.
"Aww. He's like a proud parent," she teased, getting a snicker from the girl beside her.
Eraserhead grumbled. "I'm not. Shut up."
"Aw!" Yesi cooed even more. "And he's a little flustered now. You know what that means–" she turned to Ms. Joke, who grinned. "Eraserhead loves his kiddos!"
Aizawa tsked but said nothing more, only taking small glances towards the woman next to him before sighing softly, "Y'know what—" he whispered softly, loud enough for only her to hear.
"What?" She answered, turning to face him with a mouth full of popcorn.
He snorted amusingly, "I think I'm gonna take up on your sister's offer."
Yesi tilted her head in confusion, "What offer?"
He didn't reply, only leaned back with a smirk as the rain hero continued to steal confused and agitated glances at him throughout the rest of the exam.
