Shantelle's POV
Due to the morning rush, I was stuck in traffic on the way to the office. I glanced at the digital clock in the middle of the car dashboard and realized that its already 8:30 am. Upon stepping out of my car, I started walking fast to the elevator. Thankfully, I am not wearing heels today because if I did, I wouldn't be able to walk fast. While the elevator is going up to the 10th floor, I started checking my inbox for emails that need to respond to.
"Good morning Ms. Shantelle" Vea greeted me before she started following me to my office.
I called also called the attention of my personal secretary and signaled her to come to my office for a morning meeting.
I quickly placed my things aside and sat on the swivel chair behind my table.
"Vea and PA. Do I have any meetings scheduled for this week?" I said
"You have a scheduled meeting with the wood supplier at 2pm today. I'll send you the address after this." My PA said while reading her small notebook
"That's all?" I said
"For today, yes. You also have a scheduled meeting on Thursday ang Friday afternoon with other suppliers and a general meeting with the shareholders." She added
"Ok just update me on that on Wednesday so I won't forget. Thank you PA." That's her cue to leave. She smiled at me and Vea and went out of the room.
"Vea how about you, what do you need from me." I said
Vea handed me a sheet of paper stating the schedule meetings with department heads for this week.
I read the paper for a while and said "Is there any problems that we need to talk about?"
"As of the moment, I think everything is good. Some minor problems on the machines in the production department are already addressed by our electrician."
"Okay that's good. Also, please call Mr. Alvarez from finance. I want to talk to him."
"Okay, I'll call him." Vea said and left the room
I just talked to Mr. Alvarez regarding the situation of our finances for the next few days. Afterwards, I started going through the documents that are lined up on my table.
I lost track of time going through the documents on my table and realized that it was already 1pm when my PA notified me of my scheduled meeting.
I retouched my makeup for a bit before grabbing my personal belongings and some folders that contains the contract with the supplier.
I arrived in the restaurant where the meeting will be held. Looking at its exterior, the structure seems to be worn out and the overall vibe feels like a typical chinese restaurant.
Upon stepping inside, I immediately saw the person whom I and meeting with sitting on a table placed beside the window. Based on his looks, he is a man who is around his late 50s. He seems to be a simple person, wearing only a basic tee and jeans and rubber shoes.
When I started to approach him, he stood up from his seat and reached out his hand to greet me. I gladly shook his hand and sat on the seat in front of him.
Over the next one hour, we ate some dim sum and talked about his supply arrangements and had some other business-related conversations.
Our meeting was already about to end when he suddenly said "Are you still single or do you already have a boyfriend?"
I politely answered "As of the moment I am still single sir"
"I like the way you deal with your suppliers and your work attitude. If you like do you like to meet my son?"
I immediately felt shy and responded "I would love to sir but as of now, I am not finding for a relationship yet since I want to build my career first before everything else."
"Its okay, its understandable, many young people nowadays are more committed to their careers than love" he chuckled
While on the way back to the office, I felt the loneliness of being a single again. Although I sometimes get a sudden urge of wanting to be in a healthy relationship, I still wanted to find a guy that fits the standards I have in men and would love me for who I am.
I continued working for the rest of the day and went home late again with a heavy heart tonight.
Although my body feels super tired already, I wasn't able to sleep yet because I am overthinking about my future again. Questions like Should I already start finding for love? Am I good enough for the company? If I put myself first what will happen?
Thoughts of going solo travelling also passed through my thoughts but I merely brushed it off. As the ceo of a company, I don't think I have sufficient available time to do activities outside work. Especially when the company is still expanding to new markets.
I felt a little hungry and went down to the kitchen to make a late-night snack. Scanning the dry goods in the pantry, I saw an unopened loaf of bread and decided to make french toast with fresh fruits.
After setting up the speaker to play music to set the mood, I gathered the necessary ingredients and started cooking.
I was busy running around the kitchen for about half an hour before topping off my creation. I sprinkled some powdered sugar, fresh strawberries and mangoes on top and around the french toast in an aesthetically pleasing way.
I took out my phone to take some photos of my creation before digging in. The first bite felt so nostalgic. It made me remember my childhood days. The happy times.
Halfway through eating, I felt satiated and decided to just put the excess into the fridge and eat it again the next day.
I just cleaned up the mess I created before heading back to my room. Exhaustion took over me the moment I laid down on my bed and I went straight to deep sleep.
