Chapter 7

Shantelle's POV 

Ugh, just take the risk I guess. Lets just see how things with turn out eventually, I'm just hoping for the best!

I set my alarm for 7am tomorrow morning and opened the curtains to see the stars in the night sky. I tucked myself under the cold sheets and looked outside to admire the peaceful night and drifted off to sleep.

I woke up from the blaring sound of my alarm clock. I tried to hide under the sheets but I was not able to go back to sleep because the window shades are up and the brightness and warmth of the sun is reaching all sides of my room.

I forced myself to separate myself from my fluffy bed and went straight to the bathroom to take a shower.

Since today is just a regular work day with only internal meetings scheduled, I decided to wear a more comfortable outfit which consisted of a dark blue suit vest top, white wide legged trousers and brown slingback pumps.

The morning in the office went by fast since the scheduled meetings were set consecutively.

While resting after lunch, the thoughts of going to blind dates crossed my mind again. Contemplating on who to ask is on top of it all.

I decided to just take the risk and called my mom. Although we are living under the same roof, I will go home late again tonight and my parents would be sleeping already. After approximately four rings, she answered the call.

"Hello" she said in a disinterested tone

"Hi mamii!" I said

"O, you called"

"Yes, I want to ask you if you could set up blind dates for me"

"Of course Telle! But why all of a sudden?" She said in a surprised tone

"Ang lonely kasi mami. Pareparehas everyday nakakasawa na"

"Tama yan. Para may inspiration ka naman sa trabaho"

I also heard by dad's voice in the background agreeing with my mom and encouraging me to also go on a blind date

"Telle, ano ba yung type mo sa lalaki?"

"Uhm gusto ko yung may respeto and emotionally mature. Non-negotiable ko yun. Pero in terms of physical appearance, maybe taller than me, 1 to 4 years older and healthy weight. Yung may itsura din sana and working in the same industry as me." I said

"Okay! Parang may naiisip na ako but I'll ask my friends if they have the right guy for you."

"Thanks mamii and papa. I love you!!"

"We love you also Telle. Don't push youself too much for work!"

"Okayy bye"

After ending the call with my mom. I then called Tiara since its been a while since we last talked. Its rime to update each other about our lives recently.

She failed to answer my call on my first attempt. But on the second one, she answered after a few rings.

"SHANTELLE! kumusta ka naa!!" Tiara shouted

"Okay naman ako, the usuals. Nasa office pa rin. Namimiss na kita, kailan tayo lalabas"

"Dati ko pa kasi sinasabi sayo na magdate ka kasi para may kulay ang buhay mo at hindi ako ang parati mong kasama"

"Nasa manila ka na ba?"

"Oo kakarating ko lang kaninang umaga"

"Kaya nga ako tumawag sayo eh"

"Anong problema nanaman ba yan. Pag nakakastress yan, mamaya mo na sabihin saakin. Matutulog muna ako para di sumakit ulo ko"

"Ano ba. Umayos ka nga. Maabot na nga yung matagal mong pangarap eh"

"Weh, anong pangarap ba yan. Sabihin mo nga saakin"

"Luh edi yung paghahanap ng boyfriend para saakin"

"O TALAGA. Seryoso ba yan or pinagtritripan mo lang ako."

"Seryoso ito. Legit 100%"

"TALAGA!!" she shouted

"Bat ba ayaw mo maniwala"

"Naniniwala na ako. So ano, kailan ka pwede magdate. OMGG super excited na ako sa mga ipapakilala ko sayo!"

"Next week. Every night aattend ako blind date"

"Sige panindigan mo yang sinabi mo ah. Tatawagan din kita araw-araw para kumustahin ka"

"Oo syempre"

"So ano yung type mo? Parehas ba sa sinabi mo dati?"

"Yess. Still the same"

"OMGG I'm really excited"

"Kumusta naman flight mo"

"Nakakapagod yung connecting flight at medyo may attitude yung katabi ko pero overall, ok naman"

"Shan, tatawagan nalang kita mamaya o bukas ng umaga ah. May meeting lang ako sa office ngayon" Tiara said

"Sige sige. Do well in your tasks"

"Thankss bye!"

"Bye"

I spent the rest of the afternoon working in the office again. However, I left around 5:30pm today to go to the mall and buy new clothes for my blind dates next week and some smart casual outfits for my daily work clothes.

Feeling tired after almost three hours of going in and out of stores and carrying heavy paperbags, I entered a cafe nearby to give my feet some rest.

At this point in time, I really wanted to go home already but I am so exhausted and would still need to drive home since I brought my car here earlier.

I ordered myself a matcha latte to have an energy boost on the way home. However, my mood was ruined before I even received my order.

I saw some middle aged couple outside the coffee shop walking beside each other showing off some public display of affection and expressing their love for each other.

They looked really cute beside each other. Their matching outfits and the smiles on their faces made it look like they are on a date in their teenage years.

That did not stop there, after a while, I saw a young couple enter the shop to take a break from shopping. I can sense that the guy is really patient with his girlfriend although the girlfriend is already angry and irritated at him due to exhaustion.

They continued to quarrel until they got their orders and found a table to sit on. After a few minutes, the girl is already more calm as the guy already gave the girl some sweets and a cold drink.

I smiled at how their argument died down within a short period of time and secretly hoped that my future boyfriend and husband would love me and handle my emotions that way.

I could really feel the problem of being single right now.
