It's been a few days ever since that training session with our familiars. Things haven't gotten awkward between Blair and I, but at least she doesn't glare at me anymore.

After the incident, I remember being reprimanded by both Elise and Alisa for some reason...

"N/N! You need to be more careful! How many more rivals will I have before you're satisfied?!"

"Y/N, it's nice of you to save her, but I'm sure she could've handled that attack."

Both of them crossed their arms and glared sternly.

Even now, I'm not exactly sure what I did wrong, or what Elise meant by rivals.. but I guess I did worry them.

On another note, I've noticed how Batman seemed stronger than when he was just a Cerberus Pup. The way he commanded an entire dragon in battle...

Apparently he's awakened a new skill called 'Authority'. The skill would allow him to control any being under his rank. Still, it is a little concerning that the system didn't specify Batman's rank. If his rank was ??? while he was still a pup, he'd be even stronger now.

If I do get the chance, I'd still like to test out Batman's new skill. Fortunately for me, we're finally going to delve into a dungeon today!

The professor announced that students would get into their pairs and head into the dungeons. They would go as far in as possible and retrieve a monster drop. According to the quality of the monster drop, the professor would then decide the grading for the project.

My pair, is of course Blair and her dragon. As of now, I'm not sure how to make her cooperate with me, but I do feel like I've made some progress...

Standing in front of the school's dungeon gates, the students have a mix of emotions. Some are excited, some are scared, and some are just happy to be able to beat up some monsters.

Having read the novel already, I know how this would go. Elise and Alisa will accidentally enter a Boss level after triggering some trap, and Alisa ultimately defeats it. They then receive an A+ grade which grabs the attention of the crown prince.

That being said, with the addition of myself and Blair, the outcome cannot be guaranteed. Good thing I've already stocked up on health potions...

The dungeon gates open, and the pairs of students are teleported to different parts of the dungeon on the first level.

"Woah, it sure is dark in here..."

"..."

I light a torch with some stick and stones and start walking. Blair silently follows behind me.

The awkward silence is... well, awkward. I can't take it. So I try to strike up a conversation.

"So... Blair, right...? Is this your first time in a dungeon?"

"...yes.

"I see."

Yep I'm not good at talking after all. Even Batman who's walking beside me agrees. I can tell from the immense judging.

"...thank you."

"Huh? What for?"

"For saving me.. during the practice matches."

"Oh, it's no problem really... I'm just glad to help out a fellow classmate."

Blair stops walking.

I turn to her.

"Is something wrong-?"

"Why are you so nice to me? I hate you, you know that, don't you?"

"..."

"..."

That was rather straightforward.

"Blair, whatever you tried to do, it doesn't make me hate you. You never did give me a reason to hate you anyway."

"What?"

"As I said, I know that you hate me. But you haven't exactly done anything serious enough to me for me to hate you."

"But I tried to-"

"Nope. I won't be hearing any of that. You didn't exactly succeed in the end, did you?"

"..."

I fold my arms.

"You have your own goals, and I have mine. As far as I know, our motives don't go against each other. As such, there is no reason for us to compete for anything."

"..."

"You're confused about why I saved you, aren't you? It's simply because I wanted to."

"Uh..."

"I'm a very simple-minded person. If I want to do something, I'll do it."

She furrows her brows, as if contemplating something.

"I know you might not trust me, and I don't blame you for it. All I can ask is that you cooperate with me for now."

"You're a very weird person, Y/N. I'll play along for now. I would like to ask a few questions though."

"Feel free, but we still have to complete our task."

We continue walking through the dungeons as Blair asks her questions.

"Y/N, you're not from here, are you?"

"No, I'm not. I'm guessing you aren't either?"

"Nope. I come from another universe."

"So do I."

"How did you end up here?"

"Me? I died from caffeine overdosage and woke up in a child's body."

"You died?"

"Didn't you? Isn't that how people reincarnate here?"

"No... I was summoned here."

Summoning... like a familiar? But she was human.

"By the way, Blair. How did you obtain dark magic?"

"Oh, that? The host of this body was experimented on to become a user of dark magic. The original host died before he could complete his experiment, so another soul was summoned into this body."

"I see... so 'he' experimented on your body and managed to give you dark magic?"

"Nope. Not actually. I was able to obtain dark magic myself with the help of someone. I killed him then escaped afterwards."

"Does this someone happen to be the system?"

She froze.

"You know about the system?"

"I am a user as well."

"That... sure does complicate things..."

"ROARRRR!!!"

What was that...? The tunnel shook a little before a few pebbles started falling.

"We need to get out of here!"

I grab Blair's hand and lead her away from the falling rocks.

"Hey- Wait up!!"

Blair's dragon goes underneath the both of us and pick us up on its back with Batman 'driving'.

"Come on lovebirds! We gotta go!!"
