The world was a blurry watercolor painting. Everything shimmered and swayed, like the aftermath of a particularly enthusiastic spin cycle. My brain, still clinging to the dreamscape, debated if it was worth the effort of opening my eyes.
The soft morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow in the room. As I blinked my eyes open, a faint smile tugged at the corners of my lips, remembering about last night which lingered in my subconscious.
As I stretched lazily, I felt an unfamiliar soreness in my body.
Ugh...
My stomach felt like a sumo wrestler had a particularly energetic morning practice in there.
Last night... oh yeah.
Right.
Dhruv.
A satisfied smile bloomed on my face, slow and languid like a lazy cat.
It was a pleasant ache that reminded me of the passionate night Dhruv and I had shared. It was our first time together intimately, and I loved it. Despite the soreness, I couldn't help but feel a sense of fulfillment, knowing that Dhruv was mine and I was his.
Rolling over in bed, I reached out instinctively, expecting to feel Dhruv's comforting presence beside me. But the space next to me was empty, the warmth of his body absent.
He probably had an urgent work, again!
I sniffed into his pillow and a smiled instantly reached my face. My man smells so good!
Gathering my thoughts, I pushed myself up into a sitting position, only to wince as a sharp pain shot through my lower half. Big mistake. The soreness was more pronounced now, a tangible reminder of the night's activities.
So, it was not a dream.
A giggle escaped my lips, a weak, breathy thing that quickly devolved into a snort.
Note: laughter is probably not recommended post-Dhruv adventures.
I shifted uncomfortably, adjusting to the sensation as I scanned the room for any sign of him.
That's when I noticed it — a folded piece of paper resting on the bedside table, Dhruv's familiar handwriting gracing the surface. I reached out, my fingers brushing against the smooth texture of the paper as I picked it up.
Unfolding it carefully, I began to focus on the loopy handwriting scrawled across it. As the note began, I could almost hear Dhruv's voice in my mind.
Morning,
Had to step out for a bit. I'll be back by evening. Relax and enjoy the breakfast and bath I've prepared for you.
Love, Dhruv.
