"No, I’ll go, sir." Dhruv said, standing up reluctantly to follow Dadu. I couldn’t help but remember how Dhruv had told me before that he wasn’t fond of animals. This was definitely going to be interesting.
"Dad, he doesn't like animals!" I protested, hoping to spare Dhruv from the task.
"I didn’t ask for his opinion. Let’s see if he can handle what I said." Dad replied, clearly not budging. We all walked toward Dadu’s clinic to see how things were going.
Dhruv was in there, handling the goat with surprising care. He was being gentle, making sure not to hurt the poor animal any further. It was quite a sight to see.
"I knew it. He’s doing well!" I said proudly.
"Hmm… But he’s not that good." Dad said, arms crossed, his eyes critically observing Dhruv’s every move.
"Dad! What do you want?"
"I want him to improve."
"Improve? How much more do you need him to improve? Isn’t he good enough for you?" I asked, growing frustrated by Dad’s relentless expectations.
"No, he needs to be better."
"You’re finding a husband for your daughter, not a perfect student for your next project. And anyway, you were his teacher, so if there’s a problem with his skills, isn’t that your fault?" Mum interjected, clearly annoyed at Dad’s persistence. I couldn’t help but give her a thumbs up for that one.
"Really? So now you two have ganged up against me?" Dad asked, raising his eyebrows in mock accusation.
"Maybe, if you think."
When the goat was finally treated and taken care of, we all headed back to the lawn to relax. But Dad suddenly said, "Let’s go to the neighboring farm."
"Which farm? You mean the chicken farm?" I asked, not quite understanding his sudden desire to go there. He nodded in confirmation. "If you want chicken, we can just order it. There’s no need to go to the farm."
"No, we’ll go to the farm and select the perfect chicken for lunch." Dad insisted, turning to Dhruv. "Let’s go. You and I will bring it back."
"Sure, sir." Dhruv agreed quickly, though I could tell he wasn’t exactly excited about the idea.
