"Are you sure about this?"
"About what?" Dhruv asked, glancing at me briefly before focusing back on the road.
"Meeting my parents. Are you sure you want to do this?"
"Don't you want me to meet them?" He sounded a little confused.
"I do... I mean, it's important to me. But do you want to meet them?" I clarified, shifting nervously in my seat.
"Why wouldn't I? We've already taken our relationship to the next level. There's no point in hiding it anymore."
"Hmm..."
"And there's no point in backing out when we've come this far." He added confidently, his tone leaving no room for doubt. I sighed and turned to look out the window. The scenery was a comforting blur of green trees and mountains as we wound through the hilly roads. "Which way do we go now?"
"Take the left at the first diversion, then a right, and then left again."
"Got it." Dhruv nodded. He smoothly navigated through the curves, the car humming gently along the path. Finally, after a few more turns, we arrived at my childhood home. The sight brought back a rush of memories - the same old house with its familiar front yard and garden. My stomach did a little flip as we parked.
"Let's go," Dhruv said, grabbing the gifts we had brought for my parents from the backseat. We walked toward the door, my heart racing slightly. I rang the doorbell, and moments later, the door swung open to reveal my mum.
"Natasha!" Her face lit up as she pulled me into a tight hug. "I've missed you so much!"
"I missed you too, Mum."
"Come inside! Your dad has been waiting to talk to both of you." She beamed and stepped aside to let us in.
"Good evening, auntie." Dhruv greeted her politely.
"Good evening, beta." She said warmly. "But don't call me auntie - call me mum now." She smiled and Dhruv nodded, clearly pleased by her acceptance.
As we walked in, I saw my dad sitting on the couch, his reading glasses perched on the bridge of his nose, engrossed in the newspaper.
"Look who's here." Mum called out to him.
"Natasha!" Dad immediately put his paper down and stood up, pulling me into a tight hug. "You really took a long time getting here."
