Courtney's POV:
Something happened to him.
Something happened to him.
Something happened to him. Those words keep ringing in my head as I desperately hit the elevator button. It was taking way too long for that damn elevator to arrive.
As soon as it arrives, I hit repeatedly the "12" button and the "Close Doors" button.
Thankfully, the elevator goes up quickly. I run to the room as soon as I get up to the floor.
I enter the room and I see the medics doing CPR on Charles. I immediately go down in tears. A nurse accompanies me outside and tries to calm me down.
"Hey, hey, look at me. It's going to be fine. He's going to recover." The nurse calms me down.
"B-b-but, t-t-t-they we-w-w-were d-d-d-doing CPR... I-I don't th-t-t-think he-he's f-f-fine..." I sob and stutter.
Something happened to him.
Something happened to him.
Something happened to him.
Those words kept ringing and ringing in my ear as I try to calm myself down.I can't even keep my eyes open as I try and calm myself down. I can hear the screaming and shouting coming from the room, even with the door closed.
"Continue chest compressions!" The doctor yells. "Doc, it's time to call it." A nurse says and I start going down in tears again.
"I don't fucking care. Continue chest compressions for fucks sake!" The doctor shouts again and gets on top of Charles to do chest compressions.
"Damn it! His heart rate isn't returning!" The doctor yells as he continues doing chest compressions. My body gives up and collapses to the floor.
Is this it? Is this the end of my chances of getting a good, loving and caring boyfriend? Is this the moment that I'm going to lose the love of my life? Is this the end? Is this the end of the best time of my life?
The nurse tries calming me down but I know there's nothing else they can do if Charles' rhythm doesn't come back.
"He's back." I hear the Doctor gasping for air in the room and I immediately stop crying and also gasp for air.
"My god..." I gasp, looking down at the floor, wiping the tears from my eyes with my arm. I just couldn't believe that this happened.
The door opens and all the nurses and some doctors get out of the room. The nurse that was next to me also left.
The doctor that has been taking care of Charles since the start gets out of the room and sits on the floor next to me.
"That was close. Way too close. I really don't know if he's going to wake up soon." He says, sighing and looking down to the floor.
"I'm happy that you continued CPR while they told you to give up." I say, looking at him. He then lifts up his head and starts looking at me as well.
"Fuck them. I would never ever give up on one of my patients until I knew for sure that they were gone." He says, slightly chuckling. I also let out a small laugh.
"I'm going to uh, tell the rest that Charles is fine." I say, getting up and giving him my hand so that he can get up.
"Alright, thanks." He gets up.
"No, thank you. You saved him." I thank him as he nods and whispers "you're welcome".
I catch the elevator to go back down next to them.
