Lily's pov:

The rest of the week flew by in a blur of classes, homework, and getting to know more about Ashfield High. By the time Friday rolled around, I was feeling more settled, thanks in large part to Mia and Lucas. They had been a constant presence, making sure I didn’t feel out of place.

Friday’s football game was the talk of the school. As the final bell rang, students streamed out of classrooms, waiting for the first game of the season. I found my Dad waiting for me by the car, with a smile on his. "You excited for your first night of watching football with your new friends?" my dad asked me with a grin. "Oh yeah definitely," I replied sarcastically.

A few hours later Mia came by my house to pick me up. You could see her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.

“Ready for your first Ashfield High football game?” she asked, linking her arm with mine.

“As ready as I’ll ever be,” I replied with a little bit of doubt.

We walked to the field together, the sun setting in the distance, casting a warm glow over the school. The bleachers were already filling up with students, parents and teachers. The air was thick with the smell of popcorn and the sound of laughter and chatter. I could feel the energy, a mix of nervousness and excitement.

We found seats near the front, where we had a good view of the field. Lucas joined us shortly after, carrying a tray of snacks. “Thought you might want some popcorn,” he said, handing me a bag.

“Thanks, Lucas,” I said, appreciating the gesture.

The game started with a burst of energy, the players charging onto the field amidst cheers from the crowd. I spotted Jake among the players, his tall figure unmistakable. Despite my initial impression of him, I couldn’t deny that he was an impressive athlete, and definitelyhad a hot body. He moved with a confidence and grace that commanded attention.

The game was intense, with both teams playing hard. I found myself getting caught up in the excitement, cheering along with the rest of the crowd. It was easy to forget my worries and just enjoy the moment. Mia and Lucas were great company, their enthusiasm were contagious.

During halftime, Mia turned to me with a mischievous grin. “You’re coming to the after-game party, right?”

“Party?” I echoed, caught off guard.

“Yeah, it’s at Jake’s house. It’s a tradition. You have to come,” she insisted.

I hesitated, feeling a mix of curiosity and apprehension. “I don’t know…”

“Come on, Lily. It’ll be fun. You’ll get to meet more people,” Lucas added, his blue eyes giving me the puppy eyes look.

“Okay, fine. I’ll come,” I agreed, hoping I wouldn’t regret it.

The second half of the game was even more intense. The crowd roared as the home team scored the winning touchdown in the final minutes. Jake was at the center of it all, his teammates lifting him up in celebration. Despite my initial impression of him, I couldn’t help but feel a flicker of admiration.

As the game ended, we made our way out of the bleachers and headed to Jake’s house. The night air was cool, and I wrapped my jacket tighter around me. Mia chatted excitedly about the game, while Lucas walked beside me.

When we arrived at Jake’s house, the party was already in full swing. The house was packed with students, music blaring, and laughter filling the air. I felt a pang of nerves as we walked in, but Mia and Lucas stayed by my side, making sure I didn’t feel out of place.
