Alex arrives at Lari's house, the mother of Andy, and is greeted warmly: "Hi, son, come in. Why the visit now?" Alex replies that there's something to be said before Andy gets back. Lari nods, and Alex reveals: "I love your son, and I'm going to make him happy." Lari voices her concern: "If you truly love him, I don't want you to cause my son pain again." Alex vows that upon Andy's return tomorrow, he will come out and ensure Andy's happiness. Lari expresses her gratitude, not just because they are best friends, but because they will now be partners. She is overjoyed and thanks Alex. At the airport, when Andy arrives, Alex suggests calling his mother to pick them up together. Lari is puzzled and asks why, to which Alex explains the desire for a private conversation first. Lari consents, with a plea for Alex to ensure Andy's joy. Alex lightheartedly refers to her as 'mother-in-law' but solemnly promises to keep his word to Lari.
