Aura's P.O.V
Agonizing waves of pain shot through my side, wrenching moans from my lips as I struggled to roll onto my back. The searing sensation told me that a rib or two had surely been shattered by the brutal force that had struck me and sent me careening into the unforgiving embrace of a tree.
My heart pounded like a drum in my chest, each beat a thunderous reminder of the danger that lurked in the shadows around me. Clutching my injured side, a cocktail of confusion and fear flooded my mind, twisting my thoughts into a tangled web of uncertainty and dread.
My eyes snapped open, and my breath hitched in my throat at the sight of the figure looming over me. A sharp pang of fear pierced through me as I gazed up at those dark, malevolent red eyes and that wicked, twisted smirk, which sent shivers down my spine.
A large hand clamped down on my chin, holding me captive beneath its cruel grip. My mind raced with panicked thoughts, trying to comprehend what was happening to me.
"Did you miss me, Princess?" The voice was like a hiss, cold and venomous, sending a fresh wave of terror cascading through my already trembling frame. Recognition dawned on me immediately, and my heart sank as I realized that the figure looming over me was none other than the vampire from the club. His gaze raked over my battered body with a twisted, evil glint in his eyes, sending a paralyzing chill through me. He licked his lips, a sinister gesture that made my skin crawl with revulsion. His red eyes gleamed with malice, and I knew that I was in grave danger.
"You know, I'm supposed to take you back to the boss," he whispered darkly in my ear, his voice laced with menace. "But I can't help but feel disappointed that I couldn't have my way with you back at the club." He pressed his knees into my arms, pinning me down with a chilling strength that sent a shiver down my spine.
I couldn't stifle the gasp of fear that escaped my lips as he leaned in closer, his hot breath sending a wave of dread through me. His tongue made a sickening trail from my chin up to my cheek, leaving a cold, slimy path in its wake.
"Perhaps I'll indulge myself a little before we head back," he chuckled, the sound dripping with malice and foreboding. The darkness in his eyes promised unspeakable horrors
"Get off her, you son of a bitch!" Jake's voice cut through the tension, and a surge of relief washed over me as I heard his familiar tone. My eyes widened in surprise as Jake grabbed the vampire by the back of his black hoodie and hurled him violently into the very same tree that had left me battered earlier. The impact echoed through the forest, a satisfying thud that reverberated through the air like a warning to any other malevolent forces lurking in the shadows.
Jake wasted no time in rushing to my side, his eyes wide with concern as I winced in pain, clutching my injured side. His gaze flickered back to the recovering vampire, a dangerous glint in his eyes as he took charge of the situation.
Grabbing my face gently but firmly, Jake stared into my eyes with intensity. "Aura, listen to me. You need to run," his voice urgent and frantic, conveying the gravity of the situation. "Sunoo heard the others arriving and went to get them." The other vampire growled menacingly as he struggled to his feet, a clear threat looming behind us.
"I remember you," the vampire growled, his eyes narrowing at Jake with a menacing glare. "Too bad I didn't get the chance to fight you before," he sneered, his lips curling into a twisted smirk.
Jake's eyes narrowed as he pulled me to my feet and stepped in front of me, shielding me from the vampire's malevolent gaze. Despite the pain throbbing in my side, I managed to stand upright, gripping the back of Jake's shirt for support.
